Hi the TDR dudes

My injector lines are still leaking. I have changed the feed tubes and O rings and replaced the lines and. I torqued the nuts to 35ft lbs and then tightened the retainer clamps and all 1- 4 lines still leak at the head. Mostly evident after I have shut down. Not so much while its runnig. ????? Du now what? The trouble started after my second VP change out.

Already tried that

Hi again

Thanks for the feed back but more tight is what caused me to buy new feed tubes already. So I took another shot of Tanqueray and thought what the heck More tight hasn't helped , why not try more loose. so I did and by cracky I think it worked. I loosened all the lines and all the mounting hardware carefully reseated all the lines and tourked them a little looser. 3 out of four sealed and with a little more fiddling and a couple more snorts of gin I think I got them all. I usually don't drink while working on my truck but sober was'nt working so a couple test drives back I picked up a half pint of gin. I think it helped. BUT. .

Now it looks like I may need a new LP. On my last test drive I noticed my fuel psi was bouncing down from 13 to 5 then back up again. I was watching guage with a flash light. Im in Ak. Its been dark since 6pm. I rechecked It once I got back to the garage whith the engine off just doing the bump the starter thing. It would run @ 15 for a while then the pump would sound like it was cavitating and the psi would drop to 5-6. What du yu think. Is that a bad lift pump or an air leak or what.

The huge flunctuation in pressure doesn't sound like a typical dead or dying lift pump to me. They usually run a steady pressure, even if it's very low. What is your gauge showing on wide-open-throttle runs? Does the pressure pull down pretty fast? And where is your gauge tapped into the fuel system?

Are you having any hard starts? It normally takes several starts and sometimes hundreds of miles to get all the air out of the fuel system after doing injectors or replacing lines.

Good Idea

Good Idea

I just changed out the VP and 4 injector lines. I might just need to drive it for a while and see if the Lp psi steadies out before spending any more $ on parts. When the psi is @ 13, hard acceleration pulls it down to 6-8. @ 5-6 psi a load drops the psi to 0. but maybe I just need to ignore the gage for a while.

Thanks

When i get a leaker I polish the end of the fitting with 400 grit, blow it out , moly lube the nut, and work the nut going tight, loose, tight, loose,... ... . going a bit tighter each time. Cranking on the nut usually is a bad thing.

Mike - if your fuel pressure is dropping steadily then it could very well be your lift pump going out. I thought you were saying that it was dropping from 13psi to 5psi almost instantly and then back up. Sort of like a surge.

Where is your gauge tapped into your fuel line?

I think I got em

Back At it

I got 2 and 3 to seal by just reseating them one more time. 1 and 4 refused to give in with out a fight. I ended up removing the #1 and 4 lines and feed tubes again. I cleaned and polished the tips and O rings. Then grease everything up real well and put it back together again doing the wiggle tighten thing and it looks like I got the @*^!!& ## things sealed. two

road tests and so far no leaks. Looks like the LP has calmed down to. Ill keep my eye on it and probably just get a new one anyway. I was getting worried I might have had to actually pay some one to fix those fuel lines for me.

Now that that little problem is out of the way I can go back to work on my

70 Bronco. It needs a new front Dif.

Thanks

Mike W.
