Attention: TDR Forum Junkies Well, I finally put my monster to work this past weekend pulling my 10k pound TT down to Virginia for some motorcycle racing. 14hr drive straight through, no stops and it was a pleasure especially the 15mpg I was getting on the open road. Even on the back hilly roads in Southern VA it never dipped below 13mpg.
Thing was just brutally powerful, easily pulling up the largest grades at 80mph and barely topping 1000* EGT, once or twice just peaking at 1200*. Most of the time it just sat at 800*.
Boost held normally around 15psi but occasionally jumped to 20 or even 35 at times.
transmission temp never got above 150 (and that was backing up a hill into my driveway).
PacBrake worked like a charm.
Now, I've heard of the dreaded 2k drone, and I believe I have it since I get a resonating sound when I get to 2k rpms, but I also get this pulsing sound throughout the truck coming from the engine.
Is this normal when towing? I don't notice it at all when running empty.
