Innova intros Brite Box Control Freak - The ultimate lighting accessory / TIPM Saver?

Just wanted to let the TDR community know that the most anticipated lighting product ever produced for the 06+ 3G Ram is just around the corner. Production of the Control Freak will start in November 2011.



Here is a brief description:



Control Freak is a revolutionary product that allows complete freedom to design the forward lighting system that fits your needs. It will allow you to power (through fuse protected relays) any LED*, Halogen*, or HID* light source without risking damage to Dodge's computerized TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module) lighting circuits.



When Control Freak is installed, the headlight (low & high beam) circuits of the TIPM are NOT used. If you choose to have Control Freak power your fog lights through a relayed circuit, the TIPM's fog circuits are also NOT used. This provides absolute independence from the TIPM's short circuit protection system that over time has been problematic. The fact that these circuits are not being used greatly reduces the electrical load on the TIPM.



In a nutshell, Control Freak takes the computerized operation of the Dodge system and converts it to the most reliable and simple way to power light circuits – through FUSES and RELAYS!



If you happen to have a TIPM with inoperative high, low, or fog circuits, installing Control Freak will restore full functionality to your lighting system!



Note: Control Freak is marketed as a lighting controller and no claims are made that it saves the TIPM. However, one must ask this question . . . By not asking the TIPM to power the largest amperage draw circuits in the truck, can life and reliability be increased?

I hope it solves some of the problems with the bright boxes I had on my 03 Dodge, I sent the boxes back twice, and now had since removed it. The box had quit working correctly, the Rt headlight would come on when you opened the pass door, the brights would come on and off by themselves, removed the box and found it was melted, the lightbulb inside that is used to send the voltage back to the PCM so it would think the headlight were not burned out, must have had enough voltage going through it to make it light up and melt the case. I checked all the trucks ground and could not find any problems anywhere else. The trucks lights work ok without the box.

Does the Bright Box use power from the tipm? I thought it used power from the battery and only used the stock light harness to trigger the relay.



I'm very interested in this product. My third tipm is screwing up.

if you use alot of trailer, then check in the for sale section for "tipm saver"
a very quality unit, and it isolates the truck from the trailer, and trailer wiring problems/shorts

"tipm saver" is different then the above product

I don't hook to a trailer often, but sometimes. I've got the TIPM saver in the garage now waiting for install time.

Since we are loosely on the subject, I just replaced the reverse lights with brighter bulbs. I went from 3057 to 3457s. They put out about 30% more light, but will this possibly affect the TIPM, or do I have this all wrong?

Since the 3457 only draws about 100mA (. 1A) more at either light level the TIPM wont notice or care about it.
