Does the Custom Topper manufacturer still exist?

Another vote for the Counteract beads. Got 'em in my 37" BFG mudders, 20k miles and no issues other than a couple miles of bounce RARELY after going over a curb or when the truck has been sitting for a few days. Filtered stems would be nice, I just check my air pressure when I'm around a compressor. Make sure there's no moisture in the tires when you load them up, a lot of mount/balance shops will get a good amount of mounting lube in the tire unintentionally.

The test of the beads in my 2001 jeep with the 35 12. 5 15's is great, they work like it was said on the board and now I'm a beleaver. It took me a hour to install the beads in all 4 tires through the valve stem's . I'm satisified with the results.

This is interesting. I hadn't heard of this kind of balancing, but it makes sense.

Since this would apply to all trucks, I'm copying this thread to the Accessories forum for more exposure.

On the same topic, has anyone here used centr-matics?

There are lots of old threads regarding Centermatics on TDR - search and ye shall find. The consensus seems to be that they work great and are easy to install, but make a funny noise at low speeds. There are folks who believe, along with Centermatic, that nothing belongs inside tires but air, and there are folks who don't. If you're one of the former (like me) then these make a lot of sense. They also make sense if you're worried about voiding your warranty (but if you were that type, you wouldn't be reading TDR, would you? :-laf ) They're on my wish list (after a BHAF and a steering stabilizer),

Well it's been a couple of days since i put em in and... they're worse! I ordered 6oz. per tire and put in 5oz. to start with and removed the weights. The vibration is worse at 70-77 so I put in the other 1oz. per tire and no change. My question is if the only way to rebalance the tires is to take off the tires and remove the beads, or do I take the chance and try with the beads in. This is driving me nuts as the stock tires delivered a silky smooth ride. The truck looks better but rides like garbage on the highway.

Is it possible that the tires themselves have a problem? I've had tires before that simply would not balance out right. I believe it was because one of the tires was defective. Currently the wife's Maxima is having a balance problem and Discount Tire can't seem to rectify it, so I'm also exploring options. The last two sets I've had on my truck, 295/75/16's and 315/75/16's balanced out perfectly with tape weights, FWIW. I'm thinking about going that route for the Maxima.
