Just wondering if anyone was using the dyna beads in oversize tires like mine. Found them in the LINKS menu under wheels/tires I want to try them just looking for any warnings on use or side affects.

I like the price allot better than the centramatics but not sure they work as good...

thanks to all

i've had Counteract beads in my tires since they were installed. 30k miles and i just recently started getting some vibration (one tire plugged, i think the beads were sticking to the plug stick inside the tire). at least 15k more miles left on my mudders! i just had Les Schwab do a flop on the tires (fronts wearing the outer edges more than the inner edges) and the super-duper Road Force balance on all four. $106 later with NO beads they are smooth again. I wanted to make sure the were balanced before i add some more beads to prolong the life. I don't see many folks getting 40k+ from BFG Mud Terrains, especially on a diesel, so I'm sold. 5k mile rotation and at least monthly air checks complete my maintenance schedule

your dyno numbers

they look like what I want what did you have your comp set on when you ran? what would It be like without the comp tapped? or is yours?

Are you happy with the b1-2 or does it spool late for you. im not sure if the first catcher ecm works well with un tapped comp or not but im going to get one soon and need to know what version to get

gauges are on the way catcher line kit/pusher

then edms

then a bigger turbo not sure what to do yet...

THANKS FOR YOU INFO on the beads

comp on 5x5 with the air filter removed. BHAF filters well, but restrictive at high boost. My comp is tapped.

I like the B1-2 with the EDM3 injectors. Spools fine and I can tow 12k toybox with the comp off. I dyno'd 340hp with comp off, 434hp with comp on 5x5. I have the special version of the ECM for use with my Comp, I'd stay with it and I RARELY tow with the comp on, and if I do it's on level 2x2. I've read too many scary stories of too much timing and towing...

If I was starting over again I'd go with a standard ECM, a Blue Chip Redline box, EDM4 or EDM5 sticks and a full B1 turbo. But that's just my opinion!

Where are you located? Elevation has a o to do with the turbo's performance and I'm near sea level. Also I'm working on an external wastegate to keep the boost under ~45psi. Finding spare time is tough this time of year...

i am in the same boat - which is the way to go ??

And are there other bead-type brands that go inside the tire, Or is the Dyna-bead the only one?

Counteract and Equal are the names of the others. I had counteract in my '01 for a while. they work great but the tire HAVE to be balanced the normal way, I put them in and then took all the weights off and they worked well for a while and started having a vibration. I took it in and they removed the beads and found out I had ruined two of my tires. Too much out of round for even 6 oz. of beads to balance! I am going to use them again after I get my tires balanced again. I can't find anyone that can do the roadforce type of balancing! The one place that I did find balanced them w/o removing the previous weights and just added more!

I just recently removed all my weights and installed 4oz. of Innovative beads. So far they are completely smooth so time will tell. I'm running 265/75/16s.

Scrappy, I'd say this: if a tire is out-of-round then NOTHING is gonna balance it without some vibration. I find it hard to believe that the beads CAUSED an out-of-round (unless they were sticking to something inside so they couldn't find the bad spots), I'd bet the tires/wheels were out to begin with and just got worse.

As far as the Road Force balance, Les Schwab, Big O (newer stores) around here have them. Also, most large dealerships have one. Now, finding someone that can PROPERLY use it may be a different story! Maybe even get in contact with Hunter, the manufacturer of the Road Force, and see if they can point you towards a local shop.

the tires were out of round, and the beads covered that fact until they weren't enough to balance the tires and the tires were ruined.

Im in North carolina never see above 1000ft I would guess so am I ok to run say mach 4s with the b1-2 with little heat or what.

the blue chip box is high$$$ what is so good about it only 60 hp and 100 flbs tq ?

can't complain about 350 at the wheels when stock they run around 180 and that is enough for most people that don't get into all this

how does a htb2 compare to the b1-2? or any other ht turbo for that matter I noticed they offer upgrades and are a little cheaper than the b1 line.

I want to stay away from box's if possible and high boost and make a good solid 400hp Bob wagner made 401 with only the catcher mach4s and a dodgezilla according to his profile, he is too busy selling catchers to chat with me though.

As far as the beads go I have lots of plugs in every tire I have ever run ( I live on a long dirt road with cheap state gravel that has a lot of sharp shale(Sp?)) so that might hurt me.

I'm going to do the bolt behind the wheel disks now that I'm hearing about the beads sticking to plugs and having to balanced anyway . Knowbody seems to be posting about them.

yeah, i'll definitely stick to the scenario of mounting/balancing first, then add the beads to make up for changes from that point on. although, if the tires were out of round to start, they were 'ruined' leaving the factory!

Centramatics. i have heard good about them as well, but the same problems exist with the out of round. my one negative comment about the disks is that they can't provide as much "dynamic" balancing as beads inside the tires. the beads inside the tires can move side to side as well as around the inside perimeter. *and they are reuseable*

With the Mach4s, manual trans and 4. 10s I'd suggest a full B1. Towing heavy I can get EGT up to 1300 pretty easy even with the Comp off. I disconnected the Comp today for a 3 day trip next week, a lot smoother throttle now with just the Catcher ECM.

Blue Chip makes a Redline box for higher power increases, and it's just fueling (not timing), and it's more adjustable...

I ran 215hp stock, 340hp before the MadECM Comp off, 434hp Comp 5x5 with and without the ECM. I'm gonna dyno with ECM and without the comp for reference next. Driveability improved having it removed versus turned off.

The htt turbos and the TAD B1s are all based on the Schwitzer with mods, I got mine before the htt stuff was available. I know the B1 from Turbo Auto Diesel (Ken Diaz) are nearly bulletproof-- important to me.

400hp setup with towing and street/strip power, almost perfect combo. I like the boxes for those taunting moments and dyno runs... hate the ricers staying close! Either way, get a turbo with a wastegate - external or internal - but keep it between 40-45psi boost for your head gasket and to keep the heat down.

DANG I talk a lot! Sorry

Hello Beast2B,do you think with my bombs i could tow with the edm 4's or not,(see sig for mods),our trucks are nearly the same,my elevation is 3500ft. Bob Wagner is doing ok with the "new"Mach 4,are yours the newer ones cause they are suppost to run cooler and less smoke that mach 3's. Just want to know before i slide down that slope ;) and hopefully not make a mistake by going to big  . Thanks for your opinion,i just want the biggest, safest towing injector for my set up,i'm happy with by turbo set up and will not change it, seems to run cool with the 1. 5's so there is room,as well my b1-2 is wastegated to 40 psi. I am also considering the centramatics,it took the tire shop alot of time and weight to balance my new rims so i'll probable have to do some thing in the near furture as well.
