inop ignition key light

is there a thread on ignition key light that doesnt work. i have checked the bulb and tryed another dash power control module and didnt fix it. I also noticed that the wires comming out of the light assembly dont go to the proper pins on the 4 pin connector so i swaped them over and still no light. i dont think it ever worked and i diddnt notice it untill i got in a freinds truck. any ideas. 2001 quad diesel 4x4 . I

Definitely don't swap the pins! The pins that remain are for your "key in ignition" sensor. DC stopped hooking up the halo light in the Rams and Durango's starting in the year 2000. The central timing control module use to control this feature but no longer has the connection. What you will have to do is tap into the overhead dome light. The easiest location is behind the driver's A-pillar. Do a search on "Halo light" for more info. If that doesn't help you out, feel free to email me. Isn't that a bummer that the truck is broke from the start?

Boy howdy!

I didn't even realize my 2000 didn't have it like my '96. Not sure if I'm gonna mess with it though, my aim for the keyhole is pretty good, even in the dark. #ad

Wiredawg... Aim or no aim, feel or no feel, fuzz or no fuzz, finding the hole and inserting is much easier when things work as they should. When you spend the kind of $$$ we due on these trucks and the warranty is still in affect, get it fixed.

I think DC stopped hooking it up starting with the '99 model year,becuase my '99 didn't have the halo light and neither does my '00.
I looked at a bunch of '01. 5's recently and noticed that DC no longer puts the clear illuminating ring aound the keyhole anymore.
It's now just a black ring.

Well everyone:

Today I realized why I never missed it. My 2000 has a black ring around it vice the halo ring. So, I guess I feel even less badly about not having it work now. #ad

Hey guys my 01 has the Halo ring and does not light. The ring is definately there though. It seems as tho DC is putting them on some trucks and not others. Must depend on whether John or Joe is assembling the day yours is going through that section of the Assy. Line. Something wierd going on here for sure.
