Hey, does anybody out there know the scoop on the 25hp tractors from Northern Tool. Is this junk and just buy a Kubota or Deere. My purpose is to move snow running a big blower on the front. Anybody have the ultimate snow removal tool out there without spending over 12k?

Don't know anything of the Northern (Hydraulic) Tool tractor.

My brother spent about $2-3k on the snowblower he mounts on his front loader. He powers it with a John Deere turbo diesel from a skidder.

Not quite your everyday snowblower?

ya but I bet it kicks some serious a$$ when it dumps big every 3 days. Something like that is right up my alley, diesel, 4wd, big blower.

For what it's worth, Rural King sells the same tractors for about a grand less. Don't know it there is one in your area or not , but ya' could check the net. I'm friends with the manager at the area R. K.

and he says that they haven't had any major problems with them and they have sold 9 of them this last season. The weird thing is that RK. can't get the loader for em' yet and these tractors don't come with a factory tach. Of course you can get one for 210. 00 but I think at that price they just aren't that popular. Hope this helps .

Don't waste your money on a Nortrac, you'll get a much better JD or Kubota for near the same price. As for the snow blower, they're great if you don't have a place to push the snow to and need to throw it. Otherwise a back blade and front loader is much faster, cheaper and less upkeep. I know a couple of guys who sold their tractor mounted blowers after just one season, too slow and easily trashed by rocks. Do a web search for "truck mounted snowblowers", there are a few companies selling units with an easy on and off the front of a pickup truck mounted blower with it's own small 4 cyl engine that rides in the back to power a hydraulic pump, about $10k.

I saw one of the Nortrac tractors at a Northern store in MN. It looked cheaply made, the cast iron pieces had all kinds of holes dimpled in them, which is not good on a transmission or frame, from a strength standpoint. I believe it was made in China, so parts could be a ***** to get. Agco, JD, Kubota all make good small tractors, it all depends on which dealer is close to you.

Thanks for the input Illflem and Double 6. Don't need any more yard relics laying around, I'm after reliable. Drove a buddies Kubota w/ blower attachment today and it moved some snow well. Think I'm sold.

Nortrack

I used to be a Kubota mechanic so I may be biased. They make a great machine in the small diesel tractors. The hydrostatic transmissions are bombproof. One of our local dealers had sold something called Kyote I understood that it was a china built tractor. Parts have been a huge problem with some of the imports. Ask anyone that ownes a Bularis ( russian made) tractor, when there is a minor problem you have instant yard art for months. Take a look at the Deere tractors, the dealer parts network is very good. The New Holland Boomer series tractors have been a good tractor also. My choice #1 Kubota #2 Deere #3 New Holland #1,765,245 China built no name non dealer supported tractors. IMHO

Gonzo,

I'm going with the Kubota 2410HSD-4WD, with a 60" blower on the front. I needed a quality unit with a dealer in my area. My buddie's got the B1700 and it moves some serious snow, I'm sold.

#1, good dealer close by.

Regardless of Deere, New Holland, Kubota, Agco and MF, having a good dealer handy should weigh high on your choice. I bought my MF 1260 because; 1- I did not know one from the other, 2 - dealer is close. By the way, no complaints other than the compact means just that. Too small for me am my legs.

Things are going to break, especially moving snow. Then for service, if you can't haul it, a lot of dealers will move it free or reasonably. Also, keep in mind many of these dealers carry parts for the 5. 9 too.

put snow in it's place

I have a boss power vee plow and my ram moves snow!!! also have a 1710 ford 4 x 4 tractor with 6 foot blower. not as fast as the boss and a lot colder than the ram. Cummins Rocks!!!
