Wow 34 people looked at this and not one person could give me any advice? I am not looking for trade secrets, just some little things. I am in FL so I will probably never even see most of you on a track ever.

Just looking for some guidance from fellow Diesel heads.

Twisted.

gauges if you don't already have them and a second boost gauge if you already do for tuning purposes. some sort of ladder or traction bars to get it to hook up better.

I am going to run the X-monitor ... I like the "playback" feature. I have been looking at the Caltracs. You say a second Boost gauge? Why?

The big thing I am confused on is the need for Rollbar/cage? Can it be done w/o coming out the back window?

the second boost gauge is used to set the wastegate so you can "balance" the turbos so they give maximun cool boost. This might not be important since you are buying Piers' twins (probably already tuned)

Twisted,

Do a search on roll cage. I believe that there was a thread in this forum a while back that had links to Roll Cage requirements for different Racing Sanctions. I think with a full Quad Cab you can keep it in the cab, but don't think the back seat could be used. So you expect 11s or better??

With everything I am doing I hope to see low 11s ... . should be around 700HP or so. No drugs... ... . I want to take it to the edge of being street legal.

I have Suncoast about 4 hours North of me so I am going to have them install the trans. Not going to cut any corners if I can help it.

The truck has a gooseneck hitch in it ... . was thinking about leaving it in for the time being ... . 150# sitting on the rear axel cant hurt the traction?

Well I was just gonna add, why not give Scheid Diesel a call? They're just a days drive away north of ya.

You'll want some snake oil and black magic. :-laf

Three-piece manifold?

Diesel Daryl or Greg (lsfarm) do a dandy set of traction bars. (edit)

Joe (Sun Coast) has all your transmission needs covered.

Why not go stage 3 on the head?--bigger exhaust valves. See photos at Bigbaddodge site. http://bigbaddodge.com/Motor.html

Enjoy and post times when you get on the strip.

traction will be the problem

Your limiting factor will be traction, you may need to look for some kind of slicks for the dragstrip. If you were 4x4 then I'd say you have most everything covered.

Most mildly bombed 2wd trucks will burn the tires off with amazing ease, so with your planned HP, you will have your hands full trying to keep tires on the rear axle.

I have planed on using either MT Dot Slicks or the BF Goodrich Drag Radials... I was looking at the Caltracs as a start but want to 4-link in time ... . all my money is going to power and trans ... . then I will worry about making it better... ... . When I 4-link I think I want to tub out the rear to make room for larger tires.

Ok those that have replied neglected to mention o-rings or fire rings. with the boost you're gonne be running i would suggest either one so you don't have to pull your head again.

This will be a daily driver ... I was told that the stage three is too much for a daily driver?

How do I find this Rob Thomas you speak of :)

I was just clued in on the RT situation. Don't think he'll be found anytime soon. I changed my initial reply in this thread.

How can a HEAD cause daily driving problems?

DOH!!!, dangit. I thunk up my answer as I was typing. My guess is that the stage 3 head would have so much material removed as to be prone to cracking when put to the "daily" grind. And nobody wants to keep putting heads on "drivers", but will on race applications.
