Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) Input Shaft Replacement

I'm having a new clutch installed soon and figure now'd be the time to do something about the fifth gear nut. I'm figuring the right way to do this is with the fully splined shaft kit from Standard Transmission and Gear. What's involved in changing the input shaft? Additional parts, time etc.

I guess not too many have done the fully splined input shaft deal. Time to do what I should have done long ago, get a manual and start reading. For future searches on the topic I'll post what I find out.

Its the output shaft that the 5th gear is on and the whole trans has to be taken apart to fix it and I mean everything has to come out. I am having mine done as we speak, almost got it back today but it will be Monday now. I watched the trans guy pull it apart is how I know.

When I figure out who's gonna do my clutch I guess I'll find out what it'll cost to do the input shaft at the same time, sound like some Buck$$$$.

You are confusing 2 diffrent parts. The input shaft goes from the flywheel to the very front of the transmission. Its easy to replace once the transmission is out. The 5th gear fix is the mainshaft in the transmission. It goes from where the input shaft stops to the back of the transmission. Just as the name implies, it is the MAIN shaft in the transmission. EVERYTHING has to come apart to replace it.

Don't know where the heck I came up with "input shaft". I just went and re-read the posts I read on the subject before as well as the info on Standard Transmissions web site and they all clearly define MAIN SHAFT.
