Inside Door Handles

I feel pretty stumped on this one and it's probably pretty simple. The inside door handle I can't figure out how to put on. You can't put it on first and slip the door panel on over top because the hole in the door panel won't fit through the front of the handle. So you put the panel on first...but then you can't get any sort of wrench in there to tighten the bolt. Not even close. When I originally bought the truck the door panels had been cut open to allow access for this but it looked like crap and I have since gotten new door panels and don't want to cut them up. Anyone else dealt with this?

I always slip a screwdriver behind the part attached to the door, pry and hold it outward and install the handle and bolt.

^^^ i do the same. Just stick something behind the spring loaded part and pry it out.

Yup. Exactly how I do it too. Thats why so many door panels are cracked there. Try to balance best you can without leveraging on the unsupported plastic. Can also try holding the back side with a plier as you hold it open.

Here's some pics of my door panel. As you can see this has been cut up a little too. Not sure where you're saying to pry it if I stick a screwdriver in that hole it doesn't budge at all and feels like it'll break and what's more there's a plastic piece behind that hole to the right where the screw goes that even further restricts where the ratchets gotta go.

Grab the outstretched piece with a pair of pliers, then slip the screwdriver behind the handle.
