Does anyone have any information on this turbo? It's exactly what I'm looking for (if it works)... . lightning quick spool-up with "big turbo" performance on the top end!

I want to run Mach 4's or 5's with my setup but I'll need more air on top (I currently have the old DD Jammer turbo). I don't tow anything, I live at sea level, and I want the quickest spooling streetable single that will keep me cool on level 5X5 at WOT (and will not surge either).

It sounds like the Aurora MST might be the ultimate high HP single for guys like me who don't tow (or maybe for towing too)... I can't wait to hear feedback.

Has anyone heard how it sounds? Does it sound like the Fords?

Thanks

i phoned them to get some info:

ingeniously simple design

1-3psi boost at idle, wastegated at 50psi at the moment

still in testing, they were hoping to get it on the shelf by x-mas

anticipated price of $3000 US

if it works as they say it does, who needs twins?.....

I'm surprised no one has commented on this turbo, I guess it's kept under top secret at ATS for now until it hits the shelves... .

There's not one critic out there who thinks this design won't work? I"m surprised.

I'll be one of the first to have one installed in my truck - that is if it performs like they say it will... . lightning quick spool up in a turbo that can move a lot of air! Finally!... . now it's just a matter of mach 4's or mach 5's?

4's or 5's? Bigger is better.

I wouldn't spend 3K on an unproven turbo, but if you have lots of cash, let us know how it works. Twins are a proven power builder and will help the engine operate in it's effenciency range.

Fishin Guide,

I would love a set of twins, but unfortunately there's no one in Southern California that can build them for me. I would love to buy a set from Poole, Piers, or even Rip, but they're all out of state... . I need someone that's close that I can rely on in case I have problems... .

I found out there's an ATS authorized dealer less than one hour from me so that's my only option for now...

"Couldn't you buy a set of twins for that much?

What's better?"

i dont know of any twin setups making boost at idle

imagine the low end response... .

I would let some of the big $$ folks try this turbo first... who wants to spend $3300 on a turbo and have it be a POS.

For $3300 I would have twins... .

but unfortunately there's no one in Southern California that can build them for me.

I find it hard to belive that there is no one in SoCal to build a set of twnis. If that is the case take a little trip up to Canada and let Piers work his magic. You could have your DTT transmission checked out while you where there.

Last I called(yeah, I'm chompin' at the bit too) I was quoted $3300 dollars and it's due to come out around Christmas.

Well that rules me out. Too much $$.

I'll bet any low speed/pre-boost/off idle smoke would clean right up with the MST 3000.

Why don't you buy a Twin Turbo kit from a vendor and install it yourself? I am sure some TDR members would help you install it if need be.

If I had a spare $3K I would do it. I have installed one set on a truck already. Its really not that hard. Just a bunch of nuts and bolts and pipes. Now tuning the twins is a totaly diff thing. That is where your vendor would come in.

I saw it at ATS last Feb. at their annual show. It is indeed ingeneously simple. Why a valve, threaded rod and a wing nut comes with such a price tag I have no idea.

The pricing is not set in stone yet, and though it looks very simple from the outside the internal design took some serious time to to perfect. It will definatly be worth the money.

I think more people would be interested in this if it has a more down to earth price. If it's anywhere near the price of a twin kit, I'm guessing 90% of people are going to pass. Or, someone's going to copy it and sell a jillion of them at a much lower price, since there would be no R+D into it.

I hope this idea doesn't just fade away, it seems like a perfect solution for a high altitude single charger.
