Hi all,

I've noticed Insight has been offline for several days due to "Security Reasons. " Does anyone have more information on this or know of another way to track our trucks?

Thanks in Advance!

O.

I noticed

I believe that this may have something to do with the security authincation certificate, but I'm not sure. I think this has been down since 6/9/04. That was the last time I had checked. Maybe they want to keep us in suspense?:(

I hope not.

Thanks HWigand,

My trucks been sitting in a parking lot for 3 weeks so I was trying to track it. I suppose the magic trick is to give up on it and then it will appear. Works every time.

:D

The story I heard was that the site was never intended for public execution and that it got shut down because of it. I guess a few dealerships had abused it and were not supposed to; it sucks because now we have only dealer connect to get info which is about useless. Hopefully they will figure out something soon it realy hurt all of us... And no I have no idea who the dealers were so we cannot send a lynch mob after them :) Again this is the rumor I heard, no real hard facts.

It's a bloody shame and not good for the dealers either. I never pestered my dealer once (until this week) because I could check up on the truck a couple of times a week to see what was happening. Now I will be bugging him twice a week to see why its three months and no truck.

Tsk!

That's not FAIR!!!!!!!

Man, I don't know about you but that has been my best source of info as my dealership (which already has my deposit) is lying to me already. Doesn't DC realize that by providing the tracking info is a MAJOR customer service? I mean, we're willing to buy a vehicle from them sight unseen except in our mind's eye and this is the only reality we have of our dream vehicle. I wish now that I had known about Tommygun. I think my hubby will try to do business with them when he's ready for his 05, cuz the dealers down here (South Florida Dade/Broward) are jerks! I mean, even the one's you THINK are being legit still are a$^%($'s.

P. S. sorry had to get this off my soap box! :(

From my standpoint being the IT Admin for a dealership I look at it as I think it was poorly implemented, there was access to other dealerships information that realy in all honesty should not be availble to the general public, however if they would do it right the tracking should and absolutly could be a seperate entity that would alow us owners to be able to track our trucks so long as we had the correct info about our vehicle. I think they will get it back up just a matter of when is the ? Remeber I have a truck on order as well and I am PI$$ED that I cannot track it now so lets keep a positive attitude that it will get fixed...

umm, i did try to make life easier for the "few" customer that had orders from me, and that site was the easiest way... My zone rep said that she was NOT told to NOT use it, so we did

i hope I am not the cause of this, If I am, I am sorry, but I guess they would have noticed sometime

Ahhhh, Insight... Das ist komplett sheisse!. My truck sat in the Baltimore shipyard for two months. Insight, DC or my dealer didn't have a clue what happened to it. It was fun to track the vehicle for a while, but Insight doesn't, in my opinion, reflect reality.

Knew I shouldn't have checked so much! I wonder if they noticed all the activity and started watching closer. Guess we'll all have to start flooding the 800 number with calls.

What exactly would they have noticed? Unless some stupid little punk actually tried to manipulate something??? I mean, why would they care if some one was viewing info. Oh no, I get it. National Security, right? Or maybe there's protected health information. :-{}

Like I could care less about anything other than my truck. I don't think terriost are going to use the site to try to hijack a ship of cars to attack a car dealership, do you? This is crazy. At least I know there's no point calling the dealer, just ring up those friendly folk @ DC. At least once a day or so.

Tomeygun I sure hope you did not think I was pointing the finger at you, I didnot even know you were using it... I said that is what I heard and am not sure that is truly the case; I agree with you that it is the best site for the customers as well as those ordering I think they will get it figured out...

no big deal, i knew you didn't mean me...

none the less it was nice to have that site for quick reference

hope it returns soon

Good thing it's an 800#:-laf

Hi,

What is the best 800 to call? I have been using the 1-800-992-1997 Insight number.

Thanks,

O.

I checked the VINVISION once or twice a day.

Thought it was pretty cool to see my truck finally come up D1.

Being resolved to rely on the 1-800 # isn't customer satisfaction when there was a way to see it before.

Knowledge is power, and it would appear that DC doesn't feel like empowering their customers with anything more than they have to.

Frustrated, dissapointed, and just plain can't wait for the Customer Satisfaction survey from DC, Consumer Reports and anyone else.....

Ordered my truck 4-19... ... . ya think they would have figured out how to produce one in a month when the model year is coming to an end!

Vin Vision

Security problem my a**. It just comes down to the fact that they can't lie to you if you have information.

Unimformed people are easier to lead astray. They can tell you whatever they want if you don't know better.
