Security problem my a**. It just comes down to the fact that they can't lie to you if you have information.

Unimformed people are easier to lead astray. They can tell you whatever they want if you don't know better.

Agreed. Safer for them when we're in the dark. I was only joking in a previous post about checking too often. Who knows, maybe it's just the IT person not updating the security certificate. DC giveth and DC taketh away.

I called the 1-800-992-1997 this morning.

Patrick for the Customer Service rep. answered my questions and noted that it's been a while, so he's going to have someone else that can dig into why my truck is taking longer than normal and call me back!

Now... . VINVISION didn't do that before..... hummmm... .

:)

i hope I am not the cause of this, If I am, I am sorry, but I guess they would have noticed sometime

Hey Tom,

I have given the site to a few customers, just recently to one who comes into the dealership every other day. I thought it was a good thing, letting my customers track their own truck.

I think it's sad that they aren't allowing people to use it anymore.

CRK_Diesel,

IMHO, the number you posted had more info than 800-992-1997. I recently called both within ten minutes of each other, 800-426-6451 knew where my truck was. Odd... .

FWIW, I called my dealer after I noticed on Insight my truck had been sitting in a parking lot about 300 miles from here for 3 weeks.

The dealer called and emailed. I do note that my truck started moving the next day. For folks with stalled deliveries it might be worth having your dealer make an inquiry.

Best to all,

O.

800-426-6451 directs you to hang up if you are not an authorized dealer. (I figure $40k authorizes me well enough). However, all you need is a 5 digit dealer code.

BTW, my truck (according to this # & www.uprr.com) has arrived in Muncie, KS as of 6/15. My dealership is in Warrensburg, MO (sorry I didn't know about you when I ordered Tomeygun), which is a distance of +/- 70 miles. The projected delivery date is on 6/24. I could push it to Warrensburg by then.

I have heard of dealers meeting members at the railyard. Mine gives me some B$ excuse about saftey checks by service and how it's better for warranty purposes if they recieve the truck. He basically doesn't want to deal with it.

How do I get my dealer to meet me at the railyard?!?

sorry for the long post, just venting..... it figures that Insight would go down two weeks before I get my truck. #@$%!

Honestly you have about about a 1% chance of them meeting you at the railyard; it is very true about the PDI and basically if you take the truck from the rail yard you are your own waranty station right off the bat... There is more to the PDI than most think.

I agree. When my truck was stuck in NJ I thought about the idea of either I or someone from the dealer driving it up... but what if the rear diff was out of oil, or something like that?

As frustrating as it might be to have the vehicled trucked to the dealer and inspected is probably the way to go. Has your dealer been pushing your truck to get priority as a 'sold order?'

Hope you get it soon.

end of my rope

Well DC 800# stinks. I've called everyday and there have been NO changes since monday. They said it's still on the mexican railway and can't be tracked till it get's into the United States. When I ask if the ETA is still next week, they can't tell me anything. As my exisiting vehicle is just about dead, I'm getting very frustrated. :{

I think the dealers probably lobbied to shut this down. I work for a division of DC and my company truck was delievered to a local dealer. I checked Insight and it said that it was delivered to the dealer on Friday. On Monday I called the dealer with the VIN and they said it had not been delivered. On Tuesday I drove to the dealer and saw it in the back lot (verified VIN). I then walked in and asked the sales manager if my VIN was in he said No. Pretty sad when they don't know what $38K vehicles are on their lot especially since they had time to put their decal on it. I am sure I am not the only one catching the dealer lying with the help of Insight.

Ohale, yes they have. Your probably right about the dealer check, but I is just so simple to go over the vehicle myself and make sure it is in good running condition. The last four vehicles I bought were not under a warranty so the responsiblity was on my shoulders. And I was okay with that. This is a brand new truck.

I guess the thing that pisses me off is the fact that DC, because of liability reasons, doesn't trust everyone to inspect there own vehicle. I totally agree with this. Not everyone has the common sense to do so. The problem is that DC doesn't trust ANYONE to inspect there own vehicle and I trust me more than ANYONE I know. Especially more than someone at the dealership that I don't know. I don't claim to be a genius but I've worked at a mechanic's shop(my brother-in-law owns his own diesel mechanic shop) and basic maintenace items are easily checked. If there is something I don't know, I can learn.

I guess my point is that I would rather screw something up myself and know about it than someone else do it and I wouldn't know.

sschu600,

I understand what you are saying (writing. ) Its a guess but I would think that most vehicle owners aren't as finicky as we are here on this forum.

Sitting up high in my Dodges you wouldn't beleive how many people I see driving with their "Check Oil" light on. I can see the bright red light from where I'm sitting.

Like most things we all pay for the irresponsible and careless members of our society.

I called the #, got a very helpful person. Gave me the history of my truck. When it was ordered, when the frame was built... and so on. Turns out it left the factory on the 21st. He said to call back in a day or two and get the rail car # so I could go to that site and track that.

Who hoo. Real truck, somewhere, built, mine. :)

OHale, you said it. Not to preach, but most people in our society are followers. That is about as un-American as you can get. I say take a stand and do it yourself. Don't rely on or believe others.

stevenknapp, mine took a week to travel from Saltillo, Mexico to KC, MO. It's been there for a week and no one seems to know when it will make its final 70 mile trip to the dealer!?! I work within 5 miles of its resting current place... ... talk about frustration. If I don't get it soon, my wife may divorce me!:-laf

I am working with my zone rep now to get some answers about when INSIGHT will be back up OR and portal off my site...

We will see
