Excellent news! Another call back to DC, same helpful guy, truck is on a train now. He seems to have more info that insight had, when it got painted and the like. But still it was nice to be able to check up on it without bothering anyone.

We will see

tomeygun... . that would be AWESOME to get the INSIGHTS back on:cool:

I'm so confused!

My dealer can't tell me anything about where my truck is other than to say it's "en route". Not to mention, he said I would never want to call the port of Miami becuase they'rem teamsters and might mess up my truck if I asked about it.

So I finally got a DC rep to give me a rail # which according to UPRR said it arrived today in Ptlaredo, TX. Huh??? I'm in south florida, why would it be in texas? The info I had had from Insight before it went down said rail from satillo to veracruz then boat to tampa and truck to fort lauderdale.

Am I like mental or something or does this sound weird? Insight original delivery date was 6/22/04 with a 6/10/04 load onto the rail. How far off can/was Insight in general? All I want is to like prepare so that if I needed to redo my financing to extend it, I could do it ahead of time. Why are these people so unhelpful?

I'd give insight another call. Once it's on rail it's out of DC's hands. ETAs are hard. For example was your truck the first loaded onto the train, or the last?

Any level of tracking beats just "4-12 weeks". :)

But on the other hand I'm going nuts. My truck in in East St Louis. Not far at all from it's selling dealer/Tomeygun. If I can't get it this weekend, it will be two weeks til I can pick it up. Not that I want my truck or anything... ;)

I'm right down US1 from you, Big Pine Key. I took delivery of my '04 in December. As you found on Insight, my truck went by rail from Saltillo to Vera Cruz, then by freighter to Tampa and truck to Key West. My truck sat on that railcar in Vera Cruz for 3 weeks!!! Then, when it did finally arrive in Tampa, it took another 10 days to get to Key West, about 400 miles. The three week delay cost DC $500 however. The Holiday Bonus rebate was in effect at arrival time. As far as why your truck was reported in Laredo? Who knows? Shipping is done cheapest way. Things change.

I suspect Insight was not intended for customer use, only by dealers. Heck my dealer had never heard of it. I had to show him how to use it!! It does show info that a customer really has no business seeing, like all the vehicles a dealer has on order. It would be easy enough to split Insight apart and provide an inquiry system for customers of ordered vehicles. Just provide the inquiry by VIN or VON, not by dealer code.
