I have 1996 truck with power mirrors and no heat option. I bought a used set of power/heated mirrors that came off of 98-02 truck they are a direct bolt on , but how do I hook up the power and heat. I dont think the wiring or plug ins are the same, and is this even possible. I want the heated option, and I like these better than my cheesy chrome ones. Any help would would be greatly appreciated THANKS

The wiring on the 96 is the color at the plug on the truck side, not the

> mirror side, of the connector. The colors for the wires on the 01 are on

Hope this helps you.

I would look in a wrecking yard for the truck end of the wiring harness. Splice your controls onto that and run a wire for the heat. Your also going to want some sort of timed relay for the heat. I don't remember where the timer on the newer trucks is located, if it's a central module or a seperate relay.

Thanks vc for posting that.

As far as a timed relay, good luck. I did quite a bit of searching only to come up short. I figured you could run the lights on a switch powered only with the ignition on. From what I was able to determine you couldn't run them too long anyway. On the trucks that come stock with them, you can turn them right back on after the timer turns them off.
