I have this set of air horns that my kids gave me to go with my 04. 5 CDT. They gave up trying to find a place to mount them (the roof is out!!!!). Has anyone found a place under the hood to mount a dual trumpet set??? A few pictures would be nice if there are some out there. I really would like to give a blast once in awhile to some of these rice burners who think they are faster and slicker than my truck.

CMgill,

I've been thinking along the same lines about getting some train horns to make people wet themselves when they don't see these massive rigs next to them when they try to merge with one hand on the cell phone and the other trying to take notes;WTF.

Anyway I think some folks are mounting on the frames and such.

Thanks. I didn't look very well before I posted and there are some really angry beavers out there with the train horns. It had not occured to me to mount on the frame and under the bed. Actually "wet pants" would be poetic justice after all the times I've latched onto the seat covers with a pucker trying to dive out of the cell chatting, street burners that sound like a sick heifer with gas!!

CMgill,

I just recently installed some massive bumpers front/rear from www.reunel.com the polished stainless steel ones and they do help some but the train horns would definately get their attention. I do however believe they might be less than legal on the roadway? Let me know what you decide. I sure am thinking about it but I need a compressor and tank along with an actuator. Pockets are a little light after the bumpers, suspension, tires I just installed.

I put mine together buying mostly used parts off eBay. I have two 24" plus Freightliners mounted under the rocker panels. You can get an idea of how I did it off my "Readers Rig Gallery. "

I don't use them very often as it is pretty loud and I don't want to scare anybody to death... :D :D

I've been thinking about installing a couple of horns on my truck too. I figured I'd buy a set from kenworth and try to find a kit or something that'll run just about any air horns. The set I've got on my new(05) Kenworth t800 is awesome, It's loud to me in the cab, I would love to get up next to some idiot that just cut me off and give hime a quick headache! Sorry, a little bit of frustration/road rage built up from driving among idiots all day.

Bullydogs are great

Fellow Rammers:

Bullydog makes a complete airhorn kit (chromed dual horns, compressor, relay, tank, pressure switch, wiring and airlines). I have a set on my 2d Gen that really wakes 'em up and keeps 'em in their lane. :-laf

My wife won't let me put 'em on her truck (3d Gen). :D

I got mine at Camping World for around $200.

Cheers, Wiredawg

new member here i have a 06 megacab i have airbags , compressor ,air tank ,AIRHORNS clear traffic yea baby slow with puter heres some pics any questions i'll do my best to answer

ColemanR,

What horns are those? Look like locomotive horns but, those things are usually really big and three trumpets. Yours look to be fairly small and only two horns.

Chris

I had Hadley Ambassadors on my 03. Best price by far with compressor is from Camping World... . around $350. 00. I mounted them on the frame rails angled down so they would not fill with water. They were incredibly loud even mounted at that location. They will find their way on the new truck.

If you really want a set of horns get a set of composite train horns from www.hornblasters.com. I have a set and trust me when you lay on those horns people move. I constantly scare the crap out of people. It's the best pick-me-up after a bad day. I mounted mine on a custom frame under the cab behind the transfer case. The compressor I mounted in a custom box that I dropped down in a hole I cut in the bed. I mounted my tanks in the cavity between the frame and the bed skin. I'll try to post some pics.

I've got about $75 in my setup. Horns are roof-mount Hadleys, a GM accessory, bought on Ebay for $50, lanyard valve was $12, and the air tubing was around $10. No solenoids, no wiring, no compressor. I air the tank up to @ 100psi about once a month and I have never run out of air even with lots of "air time". My kids like them so they get blown a lot. :)

Mounting location

There is a fairly large vertical panel mated to the curve of the fender at the very front edge of the bed that I mounted mine on. You can see them if you peer between the cab and the bed. I aimed them down so they stay dry and bounce the noise off the pavement. They are so loud it doesn't make any difference that they aren't aimed forward. Also, just to make it a little quiter, I mounted them on the passenger side.
