Hello

I purchased a Pyro and a Boost auto meter gauge from Geno’s Garage. It is a 2 pod A pillar type for a 1992 Dodge. I know you guys have gone over this a few time, but I can’t see the thread anywhere on the website. Installation is the question? I don’t like drilling holes in the wrong places. Some help on where you guys drilled holes to get the wires to the underside of the dash and into the engine compartment would really help me. What color of wires did you guys use for power and illumination? Where can I find the thread or installation instructions??

Thanks

Roy in Phoenix

Anything I've seen from Geno's came with instructions?? Anyway, I ran the wires between the side of the dash and the cab, then under the dash to a new hole that I drilled for a gromet. If you are really anal, you can get the same color wires that the headlight switch uses. Or just use red for hot and black for ground. I suggest a painless fuse block to hook up anything extra on any truck, Geno's has those also. Makes finding power easy, and safe. The boost hooks up easily from a port under the intake horn, just unscrew the plug and insert the right sized fitting that came with the guage, as far as the thermocoupler, drill in the exhaust manifold, pre turbo, and tap for the fitting. That easy!

Thank you for helping me.

I got some installation instruction. They said (4. Create an opening in the

A-pillar for the gauge lines to pass through). (8. Run the lines down the

back of the A-pillar and out through the fire wall to the engine. )

Do I drill the plastic piece and the steel doorframe? Do I run the wires and

tubing down the inside of the doorframe? I was looking for the color of

wires that people have tapped into? (Power and illumination)

I was looking in some of my back issues and I didn't get issues 23 which I

see that on page 27 there are some instruction. I didn't buy that one and

trying to put the gauges in tomorrow.

Need some help.

Roy,

I just put an autometer 2 gage pod in my 91.

1. Before you remove the trim piece put the pod up against it and slide it up and down to get the best fit for your eye height and the best fit of the pod on the trim then mark the location.

2. Remove the trim piece, put the pod up to your mark, clamp together or have someone hold them together, drill for the plastic rivets.

3. Drill a fairly good sized hole in the trim piece between where the top and bottom of the pod will be - you'll need space for the boost tube, the thermocouple wires, the power to the stepper motor, and the lights. Put the large hole in the trim where the tubing for the boost gage will have the straightest run. You do not drill the steel pillar.

4. Run the tubing and wiring from the engine compartment either through a hole you drill or the grommet above the clutch pedal. Fish the wiring up behind the trim on the left side of the dash and then through the large hole you just drilled.

5. Connect gages, install in pod, put trim piece back in place, put pod in place and have someone help you to pull slack wires and tubing back under the dash.

6. Push the pod rivets in place and you're good to go.

As far as wire colors go, I used 20 gage wire (red - hot, black - ground, and white - signal). For gage illumination, tap into the ash tray light since that's on the dimmer circuit. You should be good to go.
