from genos. the instructions were pretty thin. came with no wiring. the donut under the dash mount is supposed to screw in... but how do you get a drill under there? (self tapping screws i suppose?). i am trying to put it right behind the 4x4 shifter and to the right just a little.

so how do you get the 2 hot wires (for the 2 bulbs) tied into the fuse box. is there some sort of special connection or what? thanks. scott.

Here's my solution.....

Fuse #5 Dims with the lights.

Fuse #8 Key on power.

The fuse holders are from littlefuse. Theyre called extend-a-circuit, It takes the place of the original fuse. Then gives you a fused tail to run what ever.

Can I make a suggestion Scott?? Mount your gauges up where you can see them. The A pillar mount or the steering column mount will bring them up where you can actually use them. If they are down by the ashtray you'll have to stand on you head to see them. Not a good idea at 50 mph on a hard pull uphill in heavy traffic!:--) And the more you Bomb the more you will use your gauges:D

Beware Scott, the fuse block in the picture above is entirely different than your 96, fuse numbers are also different. Use your service manual.

I prefer my gauges down by the ashtray so I don't have to look at them all time. Trucks I've driven with A-pillar gauges annoy me with a in your face feeling especially at night. Just take your time getting the gauges aimed just right and you will have no trouble seeing them.

i'm with illflem,

i mounted my boost guage down by the 4x4 shifter and to the right. i tapped into the illum line. everything works fine. it's a guage that i don't need to see all of the time. it's something that hopefully will pay for itself by helping me troubleshooting.

thanks for all of the help. scott

Well, Now I'm just opposite of Bill. I installed mine on the A-Pillar and find them to be very handy there. I have three more on the dash and they are not in the way either. Now the wife's 98 had her's mounted down by the shifter and she told me " those damn things are useless". Camping World installed them before we got the truck. When I'm towing a load I want to know what the boost and the exhaust heat is right now. . I don't have the time trying to focas on the gauges down there. And to be totally honest, in the 98, I don't even try to see them.

The A-Pillar is so large anyway the gauges don't add any more to that area. I find mine very handy just like they are. :)

But put your where they fill good to you.
