I have been running a triple dog for several months on my 2006 Ram 2500 CTD and so far have been really happy with it. Install was easy and I have not had any codes or other issues.
So finally I decided to try the outlook to give me some gauges and EGT etc. On the 2006 Dodge in particular the install is very easy. You dont even have to connect to the MAP or other plug under the hood. Just drill the EGT (I put mine between 3 and 4 cylinder and then plug the main harness into the OBDII port. There is one wire for the power from the fuse box that uses a fuse plug to attach with and then connect the EGT wires and thats it.
I routed the wires behind the dash to make it look as good as possible and it turned out nice. I had a 7 hour interstate drive the same day which gave me a chance to play with it.
I love the transmission temp but it never got over 60-80 degrees. I was not towing and it was 40ish outside. Is that normal for it to be that cool? I assume it gets this signal from the built in probe somewhere. Does anyone know where that is located?
Also I noted that EGT on the 2006 does appear to run higher than it did on my 2004. 5. Even without towing on the interstate I was able to get 1100 on a slight grade with some heavy throttle.
But it also seems to cool down faster too. At shutdown it seems to drop below 300 way sooner than my 04 did. Maybe this is just because its 40 outside and it will take longer at 90 degrees ambient.
Overall I like the unit a lot and it was worth the price for this level of gauges and adjustment of the triple dog.
