Why is it that when something looks like it's only going to take an hour to do, it ends up taking 3. UPS guy delivered the system yesterday morn and after work me and a buddy started the project about 5:30. By 8:30 we were finishing up. A couple of pointers for anyone who is going to do the install themselves.

1) Find someone with a floor lift/jack. Doing it on your back on the concrete driveway is not the way to go. (for this anyway :D )

2) If you don't have a cutting torch, or access to one, use a sawzall. The hacksaw thing just doesn't work.

3) Those rubber grommets come off the hangers much easier with WD-40 or oil of some sort. It sucks without it.

4) Have fun with removing the down pipe bolts. As with everything else, they don't give you any room for torquing on them.

5) Have someone help and set aside a good chunk of time for the project.

That being said. So far I love the system. With the 5" chrome tip, it looks like a pipeline sticking out the rear of the truck. The sound is nice an throaty, but not too loud. Since I had my pyro post turbo, in the stock down pipe, I haven't been able to compare EGT differences. I intend on replacing it pre-turbo, but that won't help in my comparison.

Thanks to Fred Swanson of Desert Diesel for the advice, information and the ease of ordering. Haven't met him yet, but he sounds like a good guy and was more than helpful. You can always tell by talking to someone whether or not they are interested in your business, they don't seem put out or eager to get off the phone and will answer any questions you have. Anyone who has dealt with Fred knows what I'm talking about.

Next up, DDII's.

No. Cal,I also installed the Jardine 4" on my truck. I used a creaper to get around on. It took me about 2 1/2 hours to remove the old and install the new system because I was constantly reading the instructions over, and over again. To anyone going to do this, get a sawsall, and very long extention to get to the turbo bolts. I think I could remove and install another one in less than 1 1/2 hours. Great system, enjoy it and that awesome sound.

I have to say I like the sound of mine. I cheated and had a shop put mine on. I helped another guy put one on and it is a 2 person job.
