At 31,696 miles I installed a K&N filter today. My turbo sound is markedly louder and I like it a LOT . I am not concerned with the possibility of dirt as I analyze every change and check the turbo for dirt/oil residue as well. As a side note, Blackstone has me at 8,000 mile intervals on Rotella T 15w40 dino. Silicon was at 6 last time. (23,529 miles). I will post the silicon at todays' change once I get it back.

Holly

E7mack96... . Sometime in the future, you may want to try the new Holly filters... Claims 10% better flow and are twice as thick as the K&N and the fit is much better... . I use to use K&N before, real happy with holly...

The K&N came with a tube of grease and it fits in really snug. I greased both sides, per their directions. I do not anticipate air leakage.

I didnt anticipate any problems either. If I were you I would take the hose off of the turbo housing periodically to see that there isnt any oil, or grit on the turbo blades. You should be able to see easily by the dark colors showing up on the blades. Also feel onside the hose for any grit. Good luck.

I just change to a BHAF from a K&N re0880. I use to really love my K&N and still do but I really like the BHAF more because I dont have to deal with the oiling etc... They both perform the same to me.

Now just avoid the common mistake of peeking in the airbox to see how the K&N is doing. Just leave it be until the filter minder moves or you hit 100k and your K&N will perform flawlessly.
