Completed the installation of the new Borgeson steering box today. Overall

installation went well-already had the Borgeson steering shaft installed for a few years-The larger piston diameter-quicker ratio lock to lock and variable valve really make a major difference. Feels like a new truck-responsive and much easier to drive. On the down side I had a B&D Steering box stabilizer for the past few years but due to the 3/8 inch ofset of the pitman shaft from the spacers welded on the new box for frame clearance the bolt holes will not line up-stabilizer bar would have to be cut and rewelded. But from the larger size and newer technology of the new box I doubt if it will be needed--

Very pleased with the Borgeson steering box! 210000 miles & climbing

Buying one as soon as all my carli crap gets paid for at the end of this month.
Looks to be a pretty stout piece, I wouldn't worry about the brace, although it would be nice to put on.

interesting did not know a dss would not work after this. also David411. did you do a write up in past on the dlux free spin hubs. was looking for it.

I had a new Borgeson installed several days ago and the mechanic reinstalled my DSS. He said nothing about any difficulties.

The new box is great. Smooth, tight and fast.

There is another thread here somewhere about this box, check my posts.
I had the same problem, others have not. Not sure what the deal is, why some work and others don't.
I cut off the tab off the BD support and welded it on 7/16 from it's original location, all perfectly centered now. I also welded the entire length of the tab, it only came with a 1" weld on each end.
Love the combo.

mine is going to be done this next week at Rip's shop DiPricol Gauges they have done a few already with great reviews. but he did say on all of them the bearing plate needed to be moved over. so they will be cutting and rewelding the plate. show some pics and let you know after this happens

I just bought one, should be here by monday or tuesday.
Hopefully I will get it installed before I head out to Osoyoos, 12 hours of driving will be way less tedious if this box lives up to the hype.
I will get some pics of the shaft modification procedure as well since I will not be using the Borgesen shaft.

i was very happy with the response and ease of turning now with it. it did take a little bit of time on the freeway to adjust to the quicker turning. you will love it.

Installation update**** borgeson steering box

With the temperature reaching upper 90"s the heat coming off the roads here in Georgia runs as much as 115 degrees and in the past few trips with the rig I started to develop ps failure----checked the fluid and found it to be running just over 200 degrees which made it very thin-(using red line synthetic ps fluid) the days temp was 99--purchased a 2 pass ps fluid cooler from summit racing and installed it today-(very simple installation)-took temp readings--the day temp was 97--the ps fluid temp was running at 130 to 150 degrees----the borgeson box is larger than the stock box and will produce more heat--the service manual states --a ps cooler is required for all towing operations--though I bought this truck new with tow package-- it did not have a ps fluid cooler--this seems to have solved the problem--am pulling the rig to Montgomery Alabama later this week--if any changes in operation I will post them--

I took a die grinder and slotted the holes on my dss center plate to make it fit after the installation of the new box.

Could you get some pictures? I am not exactly sure what you mean, I would really like to use my brace as well but it doesn't fit.
