Henry... I have done that with other flaps, but if you look closely at these, they are designed with that in mind... If my photography was better, you could notice that they have two 90 degree bends in them to offset them towards the rear of the vehicle anothr four or five inches away from the tire. My old ones were getting tire marks on them as I go up in the mountains a lot... these should not be nearly as bad, if at all!
That is a good reason to check out his website and consider these. I believe he has a patent or "patent pending" on the design.

Great looking... . Just a reminder for the readers of this thread... Be careful backing up with those awsome mudders. I ripped one of mine off once when jockeying my 5er into a space. Hit a rock that put the flap under the wheel. Luckily the bolts and screws gave up before the wheel housing... .
