Installed my Piers modified HX35 today. :):) While I was out running in the new turbo bearings I had a blow out:mad:. The boot at the outlet elbow from the turbo to the tube to the intercooler went toes up ( 35k mi ). There is an a/c line that runs right next to the boot. There is a pressure switch in this line that can ( mine did )rub a hole in the bellows part of the boot. Check your boots or you too could have an unexpected boot failure.

Sorry to hear about the blow out. Could be worse. I had a customer awhile back and his rubbed in a way that the AC line got the hole in it instead of the rubber boot. Needless to say, it wasn't cheap. I always watch mine to make sure the switch isn't against it. I've always wondered if anyone ever had a hole get rubbed in the boot from that. Guess I know now. Keep us posted on the turbo.

Yeah, that's not only a problem with your truck, but with the body style since 1994. Every time you change your oil, you can accidentally move the A/C line near your intercooler bellows. A point to make is to take notice of it each oil change. A small push is all you'll need to get it out of the way. Mine did it too and the little boot was quite expensive to replace.

I guess I'll find out how expensive tomorrow. I am hoping it is a Cummins part and not a DC high dollar part.

Thanks for the heads-up. I would never have checked that if you hadn’t mentioned it. I seem to be OK, but there is not much room between the two. I’ll keep an eye on it. Thanks again.

OUCH !!!!!!

$73 bucks at DC. Went to Cummins but is a DC part.

When I installed the PDR turbo I installed a stock paper filter and an adjustable regulator for boost. Set at factory 20 lb boost, regulated by waste gate my deadhead egts maxed at 1100*, This seems a little low for here with the DD1's, EZ and TM ECM. I am going to check this by changing out pyros to see.

more later.
