I finally got around to adding the rock chip protection (running boards!) that I've so badly needed. I decided on a set of Stull 2-1/2" tube style stainless boards, both front and bed, purchased from Randys Off Road in Smokey Point, WA.
First, they look great. The cab boards went on easily, no drilling - just remove 3 cab mount bolts on each side and install the brackets. The only issue is that my Mopar molded mud flaps dont fit with them.
The bed boards on the other hand were/are a PIA!! After screwing around with the drivers side for 5 hours, I finally sent a nasty gram email to Stull. A phone call the next day revealed that I had been sold a set that was made in April of 2003, their first attempt at these boards. So they sent me out an updated set of mounting brackets, which I must say went in much better. But I am still having issues getting both cab and bed boards leveled out. The fronts are as far down as they will go, and I've got the bed boards adjusted up as far as they would go (looks like I might have to fab up some shims for the fronts to drop them down a little). It seems to me that these guys are trying way to hard to make them no drill installations. I'd trade drilling a hole for the 3 hours of monkeying around.
So just a heads up for those that puchase these boards - check the date on the instructions to see the date that the boards were made. If anyone is interested in seeing them, pm me and I'll send pics (or I might actually figure out how to post pics in the readers rigs area!)
