I am finally getting around to installing the EGT and Boost gauges on my truck. I've had them sitting around since before summer...

Anyway, I've read some posts on the install of the double gauge pod for the A pillar. ( Can't remember if thats what its called)

Anyway, I don't know if I should remove the old and replace with the new, or just screw right over the existing? I remember reading, vaguely, that its easier to just remove and replace.

Also, I recall something about removing the old and it having "clips", but i have forgotten which way to pry etc.

I looked under "A pillar gauge install" etc in the seach engine, but had no luck.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Ed

I installed the same " full pillar". I hate rattles and I thought leaving the thin full pillar as a replacement wouldn't be as tight and be cheasy, especially since it doesn't have the thin leg that goes all they way down to the kick panel. I attached mine to the original pillar trim and used a 2" hole saw and drilled two holes were the tubing and wires to the gauges need to be.

When pulling off the piller trim, you need to pull it toward you and kinda at the same downward angle that the piller is. The plastic clips are weak,so they may break off (mine did). Nothing a little epoxy can't repair.

Bug Out,

I also used the full pillar as a cover for the OEM pillar. I also thought it looked awful without the strip continuing down from the bottom of the instr. cluster. I bought the Ultra Lights, and the pod doesn't weigh very much. I just used a self-tapping screw on the top portion of the new pillar, and drove it through the existing pillar. Works great for me.

You will also probably have to sand the eylets on the new pillar to be able to insert the new gauges. Make sure you sand a little at a time to get a good, tight fit. Here in Arizona, the summertimes have the tendency to loosen up the gauges some!

Also, if you will be hooking up lighting, use the tanish orange wire on the back portion of the headlight switch--that way you will have dimming abilities on the gauges. I also insalled an in-line switch to disable the lights if they became too annoying at night on dark highways. Actually haven't needed it yet, though.

You shouldn't have a problem with anything else. Pretty simple installation after you get that manifold drilled out.

I used double sided 3M tape to attach my full pillar pod to the original pillar. Worked out great. Fits real snug against the OEM pillar.

Thanks for the help

Thanks for the input. I'm going to tackle this project in the next couple weeks.

Thanks again. Ed
