Use Of Hydraulic-Electric Brake Controllers on Dodge Rams

Locking up brakes

Well my beautiful 95 was totalled a few weeks back after driving over a Neon that pulled out in front of me.

Anyway I just bought a new 03 and need to move my Jordan brake controller over to the new truck. Where are you guys putting them and are you having any trouble with installation or operation in the new trucks? Pictures would be helpful.

Thanks,

Blake

I think Jordan makes a special kit for the 03 if it has adjustable pedels. Check out there website or give him a call.

I sent email to Jordan about suggestions, but I'd like to see what guys on here are doing. Mine has no adjustable pedals.

WOW! Now that's really neat! How did you put it in there? Does that panel just snap off and is there much space in behind there? That is a really nice installation for the control and your gauges. Thanks.

Its installed in a plate that fills the cubby pocket, the pocket itself is cut out from behind, some other pictures...

Installation is real easy, one screw holds the dash, the plate is held in by the cubby face that remains after cutting off the pocket. The Jordan cable is routed through a ready made hole and clips to the dash bottom in front of the brake.

I installed mine yesterday. I did the easy thing and put it up on the top right corner of the knee bolster panel. Not where I'd prefer to put it, but I didn't want to loose my cubby space like Dieselman's setup (very nice though). Normally I hate putting controllers near my knees, but since the Jordan mounts flush to the panel I think it will be out of the way enough.

It was a piece of cake to install.

I'll second this!

Jordan has a bracket for the 03s with adjustable pedals that clamps around the adjusting cylinder.

When I ordered my Jordan, I made sure that they knew that I had the adjustables.

I asked them about the difficulty level of the installation and they said that our Dodges are the easiest.

If all you'll need is the bracket, they might not even charge for it!

Good luck with it, and your new ride.

I put mine in the lower cubby so I didn't use up valuable guage space in the upper cubby. It was an easy install.

Prairie Dog,

Do you have any pictures?

Anyone have any other ideas for mounting their Jordans?

Thanks,

Blake

I installed my controller on the panel under the steering wheel, on the left side near the pedal adjustment switch.

With heated seats, I don't have the "cubby".

This lets me read the display and, if necessary, use the manual activation button while keeping my right hand on the steering wheel.

As to pictures, I'll post here again when I get them uploaded.

Any new ideas here? Just getting a little desperate as I need to do this soon.

I'm still trying to figure out where to put the Jordan in my 03. The more I look, the confuser I get! I don't want to use up the upper cubby hole as it's a good place for a cell phone or pistol, so the knee bolster area is the only other option I can see. Has anyone mounted them where the ash tray is?

Thanks guys,

Blake

Ok guys, I decided to go the easy route and mount my Jordan on the left knee bolster. I didn't want to do it that way, but it works well and doesn't seem to bother anything. See picture below.

How do you guys like the jordan? I was thinking of getting one. Don't like the controler i've got now, takes to much to activate it. and every hill changeing the settings.

Thanks Mike

I really like my Jordan. Works by the actual amount of braking needed - no inertia or anything like that. No lag. I haven't ever needed to adjust it once it was first set - which you do without even moving after hooking the trailer wiring up. The truck and trailer work together in stopping, just like a semi truck and trailer.
