Why don't you use the fleetguard filters? An FF5814 ( the new NanoNet version of the FF5320 ) instead of the yellow thing and an FS1212 ( 20um ) or better yet an FS1001 (10um ).

I agree with the FF5814 but the Baldwn BF1212 is a better water separator than the FS1212. Check the date... I have been running the FF5814 since it was released and a Donaldson P551313 for a couple years before that. This is an old thread.

The 1000 is a great filter but I don't want my initial, of 3, that fine. There isn't much, if any, need when there are 2 after it.

It will meet the min OE spec, but still just a little shy of the Baldwin BF1212 rating.

I don't see the need for a 10um filter on the first filter and think that the lower rated 20um is adequate; however, the f/w separation rating is the most important.

It appears Donaldson came out over a year ago with a secondary fuel filter (Blue series) that is an alternative to Fleetguard FF5814, their own P551313 and Cat 1R-0750. They indicate it uses the Donaldson Synteq XP media and is 99.9% efficient at 4 micron.

Here are a some related links about the Blue series:

The indicate they used J1985 single pass testing process against the competitors in this link.

Here's one article on that talks a little about the media:

Thanks Freebore.

When I bought my FF5814 about 20 months ago Donaldson didn't have that one out yet. It appears to be quite a bit cheaper than the Fleetguard.

I'm about due for a filter change.

Thanks to UDC Pro I am able to enable my 2nd WIF sensor, so I need to shop for a WIF enabled filter too.
