The few times I replaced carpets in a car I didn't use any glue. They were factory carpets and the only thing holding them down was the moldings at the doors, normally something near the pedals, the front seats and center console if it had one.
 
Good carpets will not need any help in laying down.



If you want carpets you need to screw or glue down. Buy some of the JC Whitney custom molded carpet. LOL what a joke. I have boughten two sets. Both sets were junk, 1 Chevy set, 1 Dodge set.
 
I've used carpet from Auto Custom Carpet in a Cavalier and it went down without any glue but as far as fit and appearance, it sucks. :(
