has anyone installed a aux fuel tank to go along with their stardard tank? Do I need a in line pump? is there a kit or know where I can get an inexpensive electric valve to switch from one line to the other? Also i was looking at tanks at Big R a local ranch store. costs was over 300 just for a 100 gall tank. Seems like a lot of money for something that dosn't take much effort to make. So if anyone knows of a good supplier, local to co. or online I would sure apreciated it.

Thanx,

Seth

Each of my trucks has a 120 gal tank we've built in our shop... . We have a large fuel filter, electric fuel pump and one way back check valve in series..... we've pulled the inlet and silver soldered a tee connection into steel inlet... .

The large tank fills from the right side of the truck..... so we can pull into a truck stop and fill both tanks at once..... when we need to transfer fuel we turn on the pump and pull fuel through the filter, pump and into the tank... . the back check valve is a 1 lb back check so that the fuel can't self drain from the tank in the bed down to the tank under the bed...

I think we paid a local sheet metal shop about 120 bucks for the cut to size metal,,, we welded it up with a slanted bottom... and plumbed it ourself... for another 60 bucks or so... .

Hope this helps.....

My son and I each installd a tank and used gravity feed into the filler spout on main tank. We have a filter and ball valve for shut off in line. When I travel I ever shut off the ball valve, the fuel has never came trough the main tank fuel cap.

I have a 66 gallon aux tank. I use a pump to fill the oem tank. Electric pump is mounted to the framed and put a nipple on the oem filler neck to fill tank with. Have a swithc in the cab to activate pump. The only bad thing with this set up is if you forget to turn it off the oem tank will over fill. I have a filter from the aux tank to the filler neck of the original tank. I like this set up. This is the third truck this tank has been in. Sure comes in handy.
