I know this has been covered before, but please bare with me.

-What are the EGT's without injectors on a '02' 6sp??

-Will I have any problems with the stock clutch??

Thanks Again.

Whatever you do, DO NOT ATTATCH THE COMP'S GROUND WIRE TO THE BLUE CHIP PUMP COVER! Only attatch the pump wire to the cover. Attatch the ground wire to the engine block like the Edge instructions say to do.

If your truck is a 4x4 6spd, then you will over power it in 5-5. Maybe not today, but in very short time.

Mike

Whats up with the ground wire? What do you mean over power it. Like slip the clutch. .

Do you know what the EGT's are without Injectors are.

Thanks

A member recently shorted out his injection pump by attatching the ground wire to the pump cover. Toasted the pump the first time he hit the ignition switch. That's an expensive lesson to learn. Just attatch the ground wire where the Edge instructions say to attatch it.

Yes, you'll eventually slip the slutch with the box all the way up.

I tow on 5/5 with my 6speed with no clutch slipage. 10k is the load, and I dont do less then 75-80. I just got back from a 42 hour trip & all went well. I think it all depends on how you drive it. My egts never went past 1200° up hill & stayed around 800-900 on level ground.

Normal unloaded runs around 600°. The only other mod is an afe filter.

Cole

I was told not to tow past level 2, I dont want to hurt my baby. ;) Besides level 2 is more than enough power to tow with.

Cole:

so what you are telling me is that you can run your truck as hard as you want unloaded and NOT have any egt's problems at all w/ the comp and the wire.

If so thats what I like to here. Thanks

Can anyone else give me more infor. on what they have seen. .

thanks in advance

Any Gauges?

Cummins-man: your signature doesn't show any gauges, and your questions imply that you don't have gauges. [sorry I'm wrong about this]

Please don't assume that if someone elses EGT's are within safe limits, that yours will be as well. This would be a very dangerous assumption.

If you have gauges, great! If not get gauges before you hook up the pump wire on the comp, run it as an EZ with the pump wire taped off and set aside until you get an EGT gauge, a fuel pressure gauge and a boost gauge.

Greg L

I did this very same thing today-my impressions are as follows:

1. The stock clutch does not like 5x5 at all :D ! It held the EZ and 275's just fine-in fact dynoed 298 hp in Calgary in December with no slippage. But 5x5 twists it past its capabilities... ... .

2. Do not run with the pump wire on without gauges. My pyro is NFG right now-I had a slight issue with the lead wire touching on the turbo  ... ... it still works-but reads high by about 150 degrees or so. A quick blast on 5x5 was enough to trip it to 1150 preturbo... ... even discounting the 150 degree overrun and the fact I still haven't recalibrated my high-reading EV pyro, you're still pushing the envelope with disasterous consequences without monitoring. Mine will stay turned down until I replace the lead wire, recalibrate the pyro, and move the probe pre-turbo (hopefully tomorrow-no big rush-see comment #1)!

The Blue Chip plate is a slick piece of work if you follow the instructions the others gave you about not hooking to its ground. I hooked the COMP ground to the intake bolt where the grid heaters ground as per instructions and everything is super-fine... ...

J

cummins-man:

That is correct. But as everyone has suggested, get the pyro 1st. Just becasue it runs fine for me doesnt mean yours will do the same. I cant slip my clutch at all, yet others can. I do have a new clutch waiting to go in, but 2bhonest I am in no rush.

Good Luck!

What's the advantage of the Blue Chip plate? Just for stealth? I just installed my comp on Sunday but haven't hooked up the wire yet.

Thanks,

Dave

I didn't buy mine for stealth... ... although it certainly could be used for that purpose. I bought mine because I figured it was the most reliable way to make the connection to the pump wire short of soldering-which others on here have done. I don't really care where the connection is made on my truck because I knew once I connected the wire there was no coming back to the happy light of engine warranty :D ..... but I wanted something better than a Scotchlock. I hate Scotchloks-believe they were invented by Beezelbub himself!

It is a slick piece-well worth the $50 IMO.

Hey Jason!

Hey Jason!

Did you put the Southbend in your truck?

Put a Southbend in mine a few weeks ago... . works nice.

Have to have coffee sometime.....

Shawn

Hi Shawn-what's up in your part of the world? Next time I get down your way I'll drop you a line-maybe a bunch of us can meet for coffee etc..... I haven't got the clutch in yet-lack of shop space and rotten weather have conspired against me. Probably in May though-next set of days off is filled with work already. .
