Anyone out there using this pan? if so can you respond to this question. I am istalling the spacer block and gasket and the spacer block seems go rest on a slight angle after it has been tightened down. I can wiggle the gasket between the spacer block and the valve body slightly. I am worried that it will suck air. Can someone tell me if this is OK? Thanks in advance STEVE.

no steve , its not ok , pull it down and look to see what its hitting , i have done a couple of these recently and have not experienced this problem , you may have the block on backwards , it can go on either way . pull it off and look to see what its hitting .

Steve, the gasket is provided as a seal between the transmission and spacer block so it WON'T suck air (cavitate). It sounds to me like the spacer mounting bolts are too long although, they shouldn't be. Are you sure you tried to install it EXACTLY per the installation instructions? The (angled) spacer block will only mount one way correctly.

PS: per Bill Kondolay's advice, I did not shorten the one OE Torx head bolt as per the Mag-Hytec installation instructions... it's not necessary.

Another heads up: do not use the '98+ enclosed style filter (black plastic on one side, metal on the opposite side)... the older (open) style filter works better. . for HALF the price! In addition, the black fiber trans. pan gasket from Dodge is prefered (when using a Mag-Hytec trans. pan) to the cork/neoprene gasket. However, DO NOT try using the black fiber gasket with an OE stamped steel trans. pan or your Ram will be leaving one heck of a "blood trail. "

i'm still confused steve , now i'll have to check , but i know it can be installed in either direction , meaning 180 from correct way , not upside down as the mounting holres are counter sunk.

john , the directions said to cut a screw ??? maybe i'll read them next time #ad
i also agree on the filter , hopefully roy will see this and pad his pocket a bit by getting the cheaper and better flowing filter .

EMD , just go to your local auto parts store , the ful flow filter is what they will have in stock . i bought a 727 filter and gasket kit from parts america for 5 bucks i believe .

Mopar-muscle, The new gasket material did the trick. You referred to swapping the mounting block 180. This cannot be done and still have the suction port line up as well as the recessed bolt holes of the spacer block on the bottom. The small filter retaining screws can naturally only go on the bottom side or filter side. I guess the spacer could be turned 180 but then the suction port on the valve body would be totally visible. Anyway thanks alot for your responses on the subject.

JOHN or Mopar-musle, I am positive that the spacer is on the right way because the suction port lines up and the screws that retain the filter are on the bottom side. Again the problem is that when you tighten down just the spacer and gasket to the valve body the cork gasket crushes to much on the side of the mounting bolts, thus causing the suction port side to be a loose fit. Everything would be great if DC provided three mounting bolts in a triangular manner. I have gone and bought some different gasket material which is not quite as pliable as the cork and will try this as far as the crush factor. Am I explaining this OK.

That's odd Steve. The cork/neoprene gasket supplied by Mag-Hytec sealed real well against the VB for me. Did you tighten the two short screws too tight?
