I’m going be installing my gauges (EGT, boost, FP) this weekend and have a couple of questions that I didn’t find answers to after I searched.

About how thick is the exhaust manifold? I know this isn’t really important because I have to drill through it, but I would be a little more comfortable if I had some idea on breakthrough.

Where did you go through the firewall? I have a standard transmission so the “hole” where the clutch goes is used up. Also, I only bought a 6’ thermocouple lead and am going to a dash pod. Maybe I should have gotten a longer lead. I was checking things out this past weekend, man, is it crowded under that dash!

i am getting ready to do mine too does anyone know the best way to hook into the dimmer switch for guage lighting. Seems to me like someone once said there is a certain fuse you can tap into does anyone know which one that is??

dimmer light

I taped into the small light in the ash tray holder. I beleive it was the black and orange one. Hope this helps.

Don't know about manifold thickness. I put mine in down pipe right behind turbo. Supposed to be more accurate pre-turbo, but I was concerned that if the probe burned off and went through the turbo?? Don't know how offten that happens. Six feet ? I think you might be streching it. I think mine was ten or twelve. The cable can be purched seperately if it's too short. I drilled a hole, from the inside, above the throttle and to the right. Put in a rubber groumet and ran both boost and pyro lines through this. Then up and across to the piller gauges. I think the hardest part was getting the routing sano and then hooking up to the dimmer so the guage lights worked just like the dash. I ended up taking the headlight connector apart (had to make three different picks) and hooking the guage light wire into dimmer where DC did. Easier to just splice into dimmer wire. small solid tan in my 98.

The manifold is somewhere about 3/8" thick.

You will most likely need a longer lead wire. Mine came with a 10' lead. Almost no excess, came out perfect.

For the gauge lighting, I used a Littlefuse Add-a- Circuit. Real easy to use and don't have to cut wires. There is a version for the Mini fuses and one for the regular fuses. You need the mini for the dash lights. Can get them prob. about any auto parts store.

1. Just pull out the fuse for the dash lights.

2. Install the fuse you pulled out into the A-a-C in the slot that doesn't have the pigtail under it.

3. Intall one of the supplied fuses into the other slot.

4. Connect the wire and install the A-a-C into the fuse slot.

Piece of cake.
