I was just wondering on the thoughts of putting the pyrometer probe in the manifold as opposed to the down pipe. could somebody that has already put it in the manifold give me some instructions on how to put it in. i know about drilling the manifold and greasing the tap when i tap it but the part i don't get is where to drill the whole. do you do it on one of the ridges on the manifold right before the turbo or right in the valley i'm just not sure where at. i don't really want to ruin the manifold but i know at this postion the gauge is more accratue and neater to watch the movements. thanks for the info. i have a 2000 ram 24 valve diesel

Here's a link to gauge install instructions from the TST website... . it should give you a good idea of how to proceed.

Gauge Install

The hole should be two inches before the turbo flange and 5/8" off center. Don't drill down in the valley as there is a divider in the manifold in that area.
