This weekend, i will be installing a II phat shaft 62/14, jammer 4 injectors, and mbrp cool dual 4" exhaust. Anything i should know before tackeling this job?? Any good tricks to make things go better?? I have the diesel dynamics injector install guide, and the mbrp directions for the exhaust, but just wondering if there are any good "tricks" or warnings i should know about before hand. Also, is it a good idea to use band clamps instead of the provided clamps? Thanx guys!!!!!!

I hope im all smiles after this weekend, as i have been waiting for theses bombs for what seems like years, finially rounded up the dough and went for it!!

No real tips other than take your time and double check all your work.

If you have done any of this before, you'll be fine. The only thing I am a stickler about is torqueing the injector line nuts. Get a crows foot and do it right.

After you get it running, recheck them and get some brake cleaner. Keep everything clean, it'll help you identify leaks. If you do have a leak, gently apply a little more to the injector line nuts. Don't crank down on these!! I had a buddy find out the hard way what happens.

Everything else should be remove and replace, and observe the correct tightening values.

I do like the band clamps on the exhaust. It makes swapping parts or locations of those parts much easier!!

Don't forget to prime that turbo before firing her up. And while you are in swapping injectors, take a few minutes to check your valves.

The diesel dynamics directions that i have say to tighten the retaining clamp bolt to 89 inch-lbs, and then it saays tighten injecter line retaining nuts at this time, and doesn't give a torque spec. What are they supposed to be torqued to??

Also, in "priming" the turbo, do you just mean dump oil into the passage after everything else is hooked up, then hook up the oil pressure line and fire it up or what?? Thank you i appreciate the response!

Kevin as far as priming the turbo what I do is pour oil in to the feed line and spin in over by hand a dozen times. I also crank engine over and a few times with out it starting. This is easy task on the 12v's, I am not sure on the 24v's how to prevent from starting. I am new to the 24v's myself but am learning a lot on here. Just my 2 cents and my way of doing it.

Torque injector line nuts to 28 ft lbs.

On the injector line retaining bolts, just snug them. Just as long as you don't crush the lines you'll be ok.

To keep a 24V from starting, remove the fuel injector pump relay from the fuse block under the hood.

Thanx guys!! I feel better about this already, and am very excited to get home from college for break and get this stuff put on. Should be able to start tomorrow afternoon, but will have to see. If i have more questions, you will here from me again. I sure hope everything goes well. I hope the duals end up looking good, i will try and post pics when i get her down...

After installing the injectors it was air bound - wouldn't start after 5 tries of WOT and cranking for 15 - 20 seconds. So no biggie - cracked #1, 3 & 5 injector fuel line nuts and had the wife crank it while I watched for fuel. Same deal - crank on it till it either fires or until you see fuel. Don't run it until you snug up the line nuts - once you see fuel from one stop cranking - snug it, crank some more - it'll fire up - once all the nuts are tight it'll run real rough and smokey - it'll smooth out once all the sticks get fuel. Have a BLAST!!!!

Ooops, did I say that out loud? :-laf

Got R Done!!!

Got home from school about 3:00 on thursday, started working on truck about 5, and had it all done by 10:30. Drove nice for a day or two, and that was about that. Runs very well with or without box, has lots of power, can smoke a lot if ya want, but not hard to manage, and on kill (5x5) i hit 52 pounds, so i think i might open my gate a little. With no box on, on a wot run to about 110mph, i only hit 1050, and later on with it on 2x5 i hit about 1150 wot at about 110 mph, and on 5x5 i think i hit 1400 at about 125 mph or close to redline. I really like the setup so far. The exhaust is still pretty loud with a muffler, so that is good!! Any questions about any of it please let me know. . Thanks for the help guys!!!!!
