Is it possible she slipped in $5 worth of fuel?

Cold winter air (heavy) will produce better mileage, but winter blended fuel will produce lower mileage. Mom gettin' good mileage -- Go figure, but I'll bet she doesn't have her foot in it just to hear the wonderful turbo whine!

With a full tank I drive too agressive. When it gets down and not close to a fillup spot I tend to drive like a granny. A couple of years ago as I was going up the grade a shinny older car was in front of me doing 35mph lining up on the yellow line. All I could see was this beautiful silver hair and two white gloves holding the steering wheel. I bet she was getting good mileage. #ad

I was in camp working for 2 weeks while my wife was using my truck. She must have been driving it quite responsibly. I think this is because she knows how much I love my truck, and she has already piled it into the ditch twice this winter, Anyways she ended up with 17. 2 mpg! Now this is nothing that great, but I am always in the mid 14's for mpg.

So being the typical man, thinking I can beat that I drove like a granny, which is terrible by the way, and yeilded 16. 8 mpg. I don't even get that driving on the highway in the summer on summer fuel! These were city/highway miles by the way.

This is not new news to anyone, just thought I would pass along that good fuel mileage is possible for me but at the expense of having NO fun.

I have been averaging 15 and change since I put in the 370's. Since most of the time I have been playing, I am happy with that. About two weeks ago, I put about 300 miles on, most of which were run at 70mph to 80mph. Mileage for that tank; 17+. I would have thought that running at 80 with 4:10's would have killed me.

18 mph on winter fule... 20 on summer... I drive her about 80 mph on the high way... sometimes 106 if a ford is messing with me.

I've been grannying it the last few weeks and I've got a 70 mile round trip every day. Only 8 miles on the interstate. While grannying I'm running 55 mph on the backroads and 65 on the interstate. I've been getting in the low 19's (on winter fuel, hand calculated, usually 18 something on the computer).

Driving a little slow doesn't bother me, cause I can still hear the mighty Cummins runnin'! #ad
Also, I roadraced motorcycles (knee-dragger type) for 3 years, so speed/acceleration on the streets doesn't do anything for me. EVERYTHING is way slow after racing a motorcycle.

[just checked mine today and I got 19. 9 on the last 2 tanks with the winter weather (NC winter mix!). This is a drop from the summer (appx 21. 4). I drive the speed limit +5 mph and don't spin tires off the line. But the amazing thing is my onboard computer calc'd it at 19. 5... my onboard computer seems to be more accurate than some have indicated on the forum.

Hey Swamp Donk'. Did she fill it up afterwards or did you? If I stop at the first "click" one fillup, then next time keeping filling until fuel is in the filler neck, the mpg can look horrible. Of course, do'in it the other way around makes for some real good looking mpg.

Yes, she filled it up as well, but there was exactly 100l put in so unless the pump stopped exactly at 100l she squeezed in a few extra!

I must be missing something. I'm getting about 12 mpg. It doesn't matter who's driving, me or my wife. Where is this great gas mileage?

2001 4x4 quad cab, longbed, auto.

I've had my truck 7 weeks, got 5200 miles. I get 17. 4 best conditions,(highway, 65-70, no load) and avg. 16. 20 to 15. 60 not tryin and mix of city/highway. Pullin a 10k trailer, it gets 10. 5 - 11 at best. Has not improved or gotten worse since new. I'm tickled pink with it compared to the 454 Chevy 3500 I had before - 7. 5 to 8 mpg, no loads.

Mine gets anywhere from 17. 5 to 19. 5 MPG unloaded, no BS. Depending on how hard I press the accellerator. Mine is a stock ETH with 20k miles now. The lower end is mostly city and the high end is highway < 65 mph. If I run 75+ highway it gets the 17. 5 again.

Just got back from towing a 3k trailer from WA to CO with my 2500,kept track of every tank. While pulling the trailer at Interstate speeds 70-75 mph,I got 19-22 mpg. Coming back empty I got 22-26 mpg.
Also experimented with three different additives on the five tanks on the way home empty, the best increase came from Power Service,It was the 26 mpg tank and also had the most mountains to cross. Think I'll keep on using this one,it pays for itself.

speedracer,I should've looked closer, but I think it was called diesel boost, the main wording on the container was cetane booster. It is the type I mostly see in truck stops and auto parts.
