I bought a 3kGSK from BD and there were no instructions with them. I don't really want to wait for BD to send me some... are there any detailed instructions online? I searched and found lots of info on very specific questions and issues with the swap but not a step by step guide.

Any help would be great!

FWIW, I used the Piers instructions to install the GSK in my '98 and found them pretty easy to follow. Only surprise was that extra springs came in the kit and I puzzled awhile before learning that I had rec. a 4K GSK. I just left out the small springs. Installation apparently changed the pump lever position but once I got that adjusted... what a difference.

In my personal experience, I have always gone through the side. Unscrew the plug on the side of the pump, some oil will spill out. With a socket on the nut on the alternator pulley, turn the engine till you see one of the two spring sets line up with the hole. The nut/keeper that holds the springs in, has two notches with a stud in the center. I took a wide flat tip screw driver and cut a u-shaped notch in the center, allowing it to fit over the stud while still engaging the outer notches. I removed all springs and shims, installing the new springs, and tightening them to two(2) firm clicks. Turn the engine some more till the other set lines up with the hole and repeat the steps for the other set. Tighten up the plug, reinstall any parts removed to get to the pump, check oil, go for test drive.

Forgot to mention, removing the fender liner makes it a lot easier to see what you're doin' in there. JAmos, good call on going in through the side. Makes it less likely you'll drop something plus you can actually see the spring package.
