I have a friend (aTDR member who doesn't use the internet) who has a 99 2500 4x4. His problem is- when he is driving, his instrument panel shuts down, starting withe the Tach, and then everything else. If he hit's the brake petal, everthing comes back on. Any suggestions?

As a side note, my 98 2500 4x4 stalled out in the parking lot of of all places, Wal-Mart. It has only 75 k. I had it towed to the local Dodge dealer here in Salem, OR. They said my problem was the F. A. S. S. pump which I had installed a couple of years ago (not by them). . They wanted to drop my tank and install the Dodge in-tank fuel pump. I told them if anything, the problem was not in the pump but perhaps the pick-up tube. I also dropped off a copy of F. A. S. S. 's troubleshooting guide. They called back and said thanks for the quide, it helped quite a bit. It is the injection pump. It was replaced, and now the truck runs fine. I don't think they ever heard of TDR, which is where I got my information about the F. A. S. S. pump.

Doncoons,

My 98. 5 2500 would loose all the instruments when hitting bumps in the road. Then come back on a minute later. The dealership had to solder some connections behind the dash!

Good luck,

I would just remove the instrument cluster, blast the connections with good contact cleaner then reinstall it. Not hard to do, you:

• Remove black trim bezel by pulling on it and popping it off
• Remove screws around instrument lens
• Remove screws retaining instrument cluster & remove
