insturment panel went berzerk

Yesterday started truck and the insturment panel went dead except the low fuel,abs & check engine light. I shut down restarted and only check engine light was on. shut down again and checked for codes, found none, restarted and everything back to normal. went to check the mail and drive around,seems ok now. just wondering if this has happened to anyone else. Joe.

I had the same problem. Mine was caused by a faulty ground connection towing a uhaul trailer. All my guages went beserk, but not all at the same time. Were you towing?



There is also a TSB on 99 trucks for the intermittent operation of the instrument panel. TSB # 08-05-00 dated 04/21/00.

Mine did the same thing . It was the crankshaft rotation counter which was replaced under warranty 60k miles ago.

The tach goes dead, other gauges start and stop intermittently, then will be ok for awhile and then goes ape s--- again.

Truck runs fine.
