Armed Forces Day

Son was in accident, car totaled, not his fault, other driver ticketed. Ticketed drivers insurance company is also our insurance company.

Son’s car was a 90 Tauras wagon in good condition. He is a music person and had a good stereo in the car, think he paid around 600 bucks for the components and we installed ourselves.

Can we be reimbursed for this from the insurance in addition to the replacement cost of car. We kept the old thing in good shape new tires, new batt. , all maintenance current. Even though, I know it’s not worth a lot but we hate to loose the value of his extras.

What think ye???

My son had a similar type accident situation (69 Volkswagon convertible though), and they would not pay for the added on type stuff he installed, but as Klenger said, he was allowed to remove the equipment, cause he still owned it. They wanted to know if we wanted to buy the remains of the car to do a restoration, but we were not interested, so he took his property off the car and they paid us a check for the value of the car.

We removed the extras from the car today after talking to adjuster. Thanks for the input ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... . :)

Most of the time you can get your aftermarket equipment back if you reinstall the original equipment. Just get an old radio that came out of a junked tauras and put it back in the car. Same for the rest of the stuff you installed.
