Insurance for enclosed car hauler

I just bought a Haulmark 22' and this will be my first experience with this type of trailer. Have only hauled boats prior. I was dismayed to find out that "AAA", my insurance carrier for near 30 years will not cover these units as they automatically assume that it will be for commercial use. They do not write commercial insurance. While my initial use for this trailer is only to move myself and family, some commercial use may present itself. Any comments/recommendations on insurance carriers for either or both applications would be much appreciated.

TIA,

Bob

Allstate insured my enclosed gooseneck trailer as an addon to my car insurance. I can't remember the exact amount for the addon, but that means it was cheap and not an issue.

Thanks Les, will contact them tomorrow and consider moving all vehicles over.

I might add that we are moving over to western CO where most of my wife's family are and we will eventually transfer all insurances to local brokers there.

Recommended agents around North Fork Valley of the Gunnison, Delta, etc. would be appreciated. Will see what the family thinks too of course. Likely will have to do something here locally first though I would guess????

Got any decent music in your parts? :-laf

Thanks again,

Bob

You should add it to your personal auto policy as long as that is intended use of trailer. Find an Independent Insurance Agent and deal locally.

Apparently spoke to wrong person at AAA

Well I asked a different person and got a different answer today. Looks like they will cover it after all. Perhaps the weekend staff is a little lower on the ladder.

Thank you both for your input,

Bob
