I am getting ready to install my SPA fuel pressure gauge and it has a temp sensor too. I want to eventually install this temp sender in the transmission line but for the time being I was thinking of using it to measure fuel temp (I have two ports in my SS system and only one sensor) or intake air temp. Is anyone interested in either of these measurements??

I am thinking that I will do the intake air and compare my Re-0880 to the stock airbox.

Questions or comments or ideas...

John, I have both air intake temp and AT temp selectable on the same gauge and leave it in the air temp mode most often. I think living in Alaska you would get great benefit from it. The goal for best engine efficiency is for the intake temp to be 50°-90°. There are many ways to adjust the intake temp, mostly tiring to bring it up in cold weather, when the intake temp drops below 35° fuel economy and power drop, with no mods or covers there have been times when the most I could get is 20°. Things I've done too raise temps are draw air from under the hood, remove the fan, cover the radiator, also found that a winter front lets in too much air and won't keep the temp up. About the only way to lower intake temp in hot weather is to use a Phscotty type setup. Just drill and tap a hole in the air horn about 6" from the grid heater to install the sender. I think that once you have this gauge you will want to keep it in. Fuel temp would be interesting, but what could you do to change it?

JR2, I would be interested in fuel temps, primarily to see how hot the fuel gets in the summer with a low tank level. If the VP44 is cooled by fuel the fuel has to warm up some. The only thing you could do to change the fuel temp easily would be to keep the level up in the tank, but I am curious anyway.
