I don't think that you will see any measureable performance difference in terms of flow resistance. The system is a pressurized one, not a vacuum system.
Since it is pressurized (by the turbo) the contour of the IC boots is not your biggest worry.
The one area that is a "vacuum" of sorts is the system starting with the air filter and piping to the inlet of the turbo compressor housing. The air filter and airbox does benefit from opening them up to allow better flow and less resistance.
Other things that will have a cumulative effect are things such as the exhaust manifold inlets/outlets/runners, inlet to the turbo exhaust housing/exhaust manifold joint, head porting, and so forth.
The silicone boots do not stretch as much as the OEM's, nor are they as prone to developing holes or slipping off over time.
We sell alot of the aftermarket boots because of the significant quality upgrade they provide and their ability to hold higher pressures reliably, especially when used in conjunction with the HD spring clamps.
