Hi all,
I have a '97 with CA emissions. I made 2 sheet metal plates to block the crossover pipe as a temp fix about two weeks ago. Truck seems to run better and get better mileage, could be my imagination though, only one tank since then.
I have read that my intake is heavily restricted, something to do with exhaust recirculation. I don't understand how an engine with a pressurized intake can recirculate exhaust gasses, but oh well.
I installed gauges today, EGT and boost. I noticed a lot of soot on the plug in the intake when I took it out.
Anyway, I was wondering what I should do here, if anything. Does this restriction increase my egt's? Do I need a new intake, and can I get one for a non-CA truck with my CA engine number? Should I remove my intake and have it cold-tanked ASAP to remove soot, or is it not that big-a-deal?
I saw a listing on ebay for an "intake plenum"?, I assume its the first/top part of the intake that the EGR valve bolts to, off of a '94. Would that fit my truck and eleminate the restriction?
Thanks for all your input.
Ben
