My brother in law just bought a 99 2500 that has tripped a check engine light. He pulled the code and it is for "intake temperature sensor". He said the truck runs fine except for the check engine light and he is only getting 8 mpg :--) . He hasn't had it long enough to get a baseline for fuel mileage but all of his driving is empty with just the truck so it should definately be higher than 8mpg. Is this just a bad sensor that needs replaced or is there something else going on?
Info on the truck:
1999 2500 Reg cab. automatic 3. 55 gears Injection pump recently replaced (before he bought it). fuel pressure 13-14 psi at idle and no lower than 11psi.
He is getting "normal" egt and boost readings.
Thanks in advance
Will
