I recently noticed my left turn signal on my 7 pin trailer connector wasn't working. To make a long story short - it was a bad relay buried deep inside the integrated power module (fuse and relay box). Unfortunately, the relay was not accessable from the outside and the whole module had to be replaced - $400 for the module and another $300 for the labor!! Quite a bit of $ to replace one relay!! Anybody else run into this and what is the old module that does everything but the left turn signal on the trailer recepticle worth? Maybe someone out there needs one and doesn't pull anything!

Did they try resetting the TIPM codes or reflashing to the latest s/w first?

Most dealers dont understand how the TIPM works and mistakingly just try to replace it when there's a problem.

Thanks for the insight. Unfortunately, the replacement was made without trying the remedy you suggested. I should have posted before we did the work. Anyway, the IPM was dissassembled and there was some material that looked like resin leaking from the imbedded turn signal relay. I am assuming that meant it was fried? I have contacted Dodge to get thier take on the need to have to replace the whole IPM for a single turn signal relay. I'll let the site know what I hear back.

Must be an 06. We have a fix for this where you put fuses into the trailer tow line to protect the IPM from the dodge designers.

Close, it's a 2003. I would definately be interested in a fuse system after this episode! I think it was a U-Haul car tow dolly that got me since it was the last trailer I pulled. If you have a device send me some info please! All I could think of was installing individual fuses in each wire. My regular email is -- email address removed --. Thanks.
