I need honest opinion. Price not in consideration (I'm not even sure which one is less expensive), in your opinion, which one would have better performance for my stock 06?

In my opinion, your stock one is fine. Intercoolers are not something you can improve on for performance unless you want to count each and every single hp. You will not be able to see or feel the difference.

I think Nick is right, but if you're intent on getting one, I'd get the BD. Can't remember the details but after looking closely at both of them at the SEMA show I recall being far more impressed with the features of the BD over the Banks. . imho

Not exactly

Intercoolers are for cooling and for people who are exceeding stock levels of boost by a lot,... and with frequency. A lot of people on here if they were to have their Intercoolers checked under pressure would find pin holes. That's because they exceeded the capacity of the stocker.

Let's see,. . I think the stocker is rated somewhere around 45psi,... the Banks is rated around 100psi,... BD probably what Banks is at. Don't forget City

Diesel's "Cooltwist". It was the highest rated of any I could find which is why I bought it. I call it a safety factor and as I recall it was rated at several hundred psi.

So why exactly do manufacturers build units that exceed the stocker by soooooo much?? :D

Im happy with banks, It is a nice kit. All the tubes, silicone boots, clamps and a nice high ram come with. I think that with the other manufactures only give you the tank. It does not add much horsepower by itself. However It does help to get more effective use out of the other power adders.

I am pretty happy with my banks kit.

It comes with inlet and outlet charge air pipes, ALL spring loaded clamps, and 4 silicone charge air boots and a large mouth Banks High Ram intake pipe.

It really takes the price of the intercooler way down when you consider all of the accessories included in the deal.

I agree with the performance part, but I do alot of towing on a daily basis during the summer, and I did see a 100* average drop in my EGT's at WOT after I installed my BD intercooler. Well worth the money spent.

:-laf so in other words, none of us can give you a good recomendation till we know what you do with your truck and whats exceptable as far as heat and performance go.

But the bottom line is this: Air Flow improvements are essentially free efficiency. The stock ECM and programming are plenty capable of increasing the power output of your engine (within reason) if they "see" increased air flow and cooler EGT's. By changing out the air intake, exhaust and intercooler (with all its associated parts as the guys have said), you have done nearly everything possible to increase the efficiency of your engine. In fact, if it were not for the cost (particularly of the intercooler setup), these are probably the first things everyone on here would do. If you do those three things, you have created a great platform for future mods, and they will be that much more effective, and that much safer (from an EGT perspective)...

By my way of thinking, you are startng in the right place (if you include exhaust and air intake as well)...

I have a Banks and was impressed with the way it fit. No problems with the install.

I figured it would pay off in the long run. Anything that increases air volume seems like a good idea. JH

I was using the key word "stock", to base my comments on :)

another intercooler to look into would be the hellmann motorsports intercoolers. very nice fit and finish, also much cheeper than Banks or BD.

we have just installed one in one of our trucks and it really looks good direct bolt on and has made at least a 150-200* difference that we have noticed at full throttle.

I just purchased the Cooltwist from citydiesel. For the money it looks like the best deal out there and it comes with a two year unlimited pressure warranty. They rate it at a maximum of 500 psi and there are no plumbing issues. I probably would not have replaced my intercooler but it has plastic tanks.

Banks

I have the banks intercooler in my truck. Had to trim bumper brackets to make clearance. Way bigger than stock. Don't have any fueling mods yet, but building the platform for them. I just didn't care for the plastic tanks.
