I have blown off 2 intercooler boots in the past couple months and they have been different ones. DO they make better clamps for them. I get about 38 psi of boost. Does this happen to other people

Have you been re-using the old clamps, or new ones each time? If using the old ones, they are probably stretched to much.

I recently went through the same thing. I got tired of chasing my tail and bought a set from Piers Diesel Research. Their spendy ( around $220 ) but when you consider the Dealer is asking $150 per boot it doesn't seem so bad. These are quite a bit thicker and made from silicon. They're not easy to get on but I have no worries now about blowing a boot.

Clean the boots & clamps with carb cleaner or brake klean, Clean the metal & plastic tube, scuff the tubes with 80 grit sandpaper, reclean the tubes, let dry. After three blow offs its held for 20,000 miles.

I had problems with my PDR boots blowing off at only 75-80 lbs of boost so we welded a bead around the ends of the metal connections. Now the boots cannot get over the beads with clamps on tight.

Bingo! Make sure that there is no oily residue on either the pipe or inside surface of the hose itself. This is common from the use of K&N , afe or other oil type filters . Some of that oil when drawn thru the turbo becomes a particulate mist that can find its way under the bots making the sealing surfaces slippery. I found back when I had my stock ones that 91% rubbing alcohol worked like a charm. Until the driver's side tore from rubing on the bottom fender lip so I had to get new bots anyhow so I went PDR.
