The paint is flaking off the front of the intercooler on my '99. This is happening only on the exposed area not covered by the ac coil. The aluminum has already started to corrode under the paint, which seems to be why it is flaking.

Anyone else having this problem? Is there a fix? I have never seem this in a post.

There is about 50,000 miles on the truck.

Thanks, Tom

I have the same thing happening to mine. I havent painted it yet, it's very minor, but I suppose any good flat black would do. Rustolium?

I'd clean it real good before painting it. We used to use aluminum acid (dont know the proper name of it) on alum trailers. If there's any corrosion, this will remove it.

Same thing on my truck. I just spray painted the spot. If would rather have a bare aluminum un-painted intercooler. Better heat dissipation. :)

Thanks for the replies.

We live just off the ocean and right on a saltwater bay. The enviornment is brutal. I just figured corrosion=erosion. I'll clean it up and put some paint on it.

Same thing on mine - corrosion. High heat "Barbque Black" is a real close match as it's flat black. Clean it up real good & remove any grease/residues before painting.
