Greetings one and all,

This evening I started the process for the KDP fix.

I have removed the front bumper and grill and lower trim peices.

Tomorrow I want to remove the radiator, hoses, and shroud.

My truck is intercolled,A/C, and auto trans with trans cooler.

To remove the intercoller trans cooler and a/c coil can I just undo cooler boots, front support bracket and screws holding intercooler and lift up and to the passanger side so as not to have to undo a/c lines?

Sorry for being wrench challanged.

With all that out of way I belive that shoud give me acces to front cover.

TIA

Yes, you can do just exactly that... sometimes you need to hold yer tongue just right but it will work fine that way... easy on the AC lines they aren't getting any younger ... . kinda like me... . ;)

Ummm, not to rain on your parade but why are dismantling the front end?

You can do the KDP by removing just the fan and fan shroud.

Taking all that off seems to be way more wrok than needs to be done.

If you already have them pieces parts removed, you may wish to give everything a good cleaning with a pressure washer. Them bugs need to be removed every so often.

Also inspect other items like the radiator hoses and boost hoses. Replace anything you have doubts about. Perfect time to install a new belt and rad. hoses. Flush the cooling system well and maybe run some cleaning agent in her for awhile to help with the process.

Thanks for the replys,

As I said I'm arookie at all this so I guess I took off more than I had to. Will be replacing all hoses, boots, and belts also along with cleaning and painting what I can.

P>B> I knew therre was a trick to all this does it matter which side a move my tounge to ? :--) :-laf :-laf

I did mine the same way, although I had to take the radiator off to get a leak fixed anyhow. While you have it out, take you intercooler down to the local radiator shop and have it pressure tested, just for peace of mind.

All trucks are different, could be right, left, or center, depends on the truck and which part you're working on. Some even require a side to side sweeping motion. This is just personal experience so don't quote me on this. :D

Well I'm having a blast doing this. Tonight I just finished removing the fan shroud, radiator, and fan. As I said I'm just a rookie at this so I'm taking my time, one step at a time. I do have another question , Do I need to remove the pully that the fan threaded onto to remove the front gear cover or do I just need to remove the vibration damper? Do I need a special puller for this or just remove bolts and work it off ?

No on the fan pulley, no on the puller for the balancer, yes on remove the balancer.

Fun... thats what it is all about. :)

PS just remove balancer bolts and it comes off.
